Analysis

I figure we make at least one "splash" signing in Free Agency this year. Our "splash" signing will be Danny Trevathan in this mock. Sideline-to-sideline LB who is also capable of dropping into Zone or Man coverage. Trevathan also has very good closing speed and a nose for the ball.

Next we sign Ben Jones, a versatile OL who can play C or Guard. We do not need to spend superstar money on an aging/declining Alex Mack and Jones can sufficiently snap the ball so he is an automatic upgrade at C.

Jermaine Kearse is a big bodied, physical WR who is also good at blocking and would fit in nicely opposite Julio.

Tamba Hali is a guy who getting up in age, but still continues to produce. You can never have enough pass rushers, and I think Hali would be a solid addition and could help mentor our young pass rushers.

On to the draft, we select Shaq Lawson in the first round to pair up with Vic & Grady and suddenly our DL is looking better and better. It doesn't hurt that these three guys all played together at Clemson and already have some chemistry with each other. In the 2nd round we take our SS of the future in Jeremy Cash. At 6'2" 210 lbs, Cash is exactly what Quinn looks for in a SS and this guy is a tackling machine. Third round we get good value and take Jordan Jenkins out of UGA to further boost our LB corps. Fourth round we take Willie Beavers our of Western Michigan. This is a guy who is extremely athletic and has quick feet - a perfect match for our ZBS we employ on offense. BPA 7th round.

Thoughts/opinions/advice is appreciated!

32 or not, I would give him a 3 year deal until we find a replacement.

3 year deal for a 32 year old, no thanks... I think we are just fine with Allen and Cash in this scenario. We only have a very small sample size for Allen, I like what I saw from him last year.. why give up on after one season as starter?

No, no we're not fine at safety.

Please, fill me in on why a 32 year old on a 3 year contract would be better value than a 5th rounder who led the team in INTs, and a rookie with huge upside... please. I'm waiting.

Well Nelson did lead the league in interceptions, 32 years old or not. Allen lead the team, Nelson lead the league.  Reportedly Nelson is one of Quins targets, personally I don't think we need to go after a safety, just saying......

Reason for no need at safety...

Personally I want front 7 and O-line, get as many strong pass rushers as we can get, Mario Williams is another reported target for Atlanta. If we can get a pass rusher FA, one in the first, 2 linebackers between the 2, shore up the middle of the O-line, and more depth at DT since we will probably cut Solia and Jackson then that's the best scenario in my opinion. To me all of that comes before we go get a safety, and all of that might just take up our draft picks and free agent cap space, get the defense right up front and that back end will take care of itself in my opinion.

Great mock though dude!

this is an actual realistic mock - nice job, the **** im seeing on here is cray - ppl do not realize how competitive FA is going to be with the legit starters - no Ben jones is not long term answer but he wont get paid like it and wont have a cap hit that will kill us when we do get a perm piece

Minus your third and fourth rounders I would love this. I'm not sold on travathan but if Quinn deems him fit for the part I'll be satisfied. I think the Bears under John fox will make a strong push for him as well gonna boil down to who he wants to play for if we're truly interested
