atljbo
Travis Benjamin kills 3 birds with 1 stone. 1. We would have a legit number 2 WE (similar to Emmanuel Sanders) 2. We would have one of the better returners in the league 3. SPEED...SPEED...SPEED.. We would have 2 WR's that are legit deep threats... Right now every team knows that Julio is our only legit deep threat.. Having 2 deep threats will also open up things for our young slot guys in Hardy and Williams It also helps that the guy kinda knows the scheme... Another benefit that he brings is that since he brings a number 2 WR and a returner... It would allow us to make the tough call but free up money by releasing 2 vet WRs .. White (2.3 mil) and Hester (3 mil) ... Benjamin signing would take all of that money but it would free up a roster spot and give our slot guys more room to develop and get more PT. We will see if the Browns can resign him but if he does hit FA... It makes sense for us to go after him
Romfal
yes it would, either him or Kearse could fill a similar role, except I'm not sure Kearse would be the best returner
kiwifalcon
Pretty much if the Browns don't want him we cull Hester &Roddy Benjamin's ours.Last year he put up some pretty good #ers when they had injuries so he can carry the load if asked. I've seen plenty of footage of this guy over the last few days and he can stand upto physical CB's plays bigger than his weight suggests and you can see in a lot of footage CB's sitting off his because of his speed. FAN_O_THE_ATL
I wouldn't pay top dollar for him but on an affordable #2 deal absolutely.
quotemokc
For the right price it would, he isn't worth getting into a bidding war over.
PK Manley
I definitely agree that Hester would be cut if it happens (probably will anyways), but I don't think it should have an effect on Roddy's situation. Even with Benjamin, the WR corps is still thin if we cut both, so I think you'd have to bring in another one too. With Roddy only saving $2 million and having to pay a replacement, you're not really saving much by cutting Roddy too. They could just structure it to lower the cap hit in year one, and have it be higher after Roddy is no longer on the books.
Clark Kent™
I'd be fine with taking him, but we HAVE to get a WR with some size this offseason. This draft is very deep at WR. Especially dudes with good size. It would be absolutely insane to not go after one at some point in the first 4 rounds. Even if we do sign Benjamin. The whole Roddy thing I'm over if it's time it's time. I just don't see a spot for Roddy now he can't get deep and makes a living off comebacks and crosses argh dunno man if he does stay he needs to take a big pay cut.The only real thing you lose if we cut Roddy is blocking the dude is physical in that area no doubt but as above he's going to have to take a big cut in pay to stay. atljbo
I'm a Roddy fan.. But you can't have Roddy on the cap for 6 mil and Travis sign for 5-6mil .. It doesn't make sense . I'm not that high on this draft also ... Not for what we need ... Its a couple of Wrs I like early .. But don't think this is a strong WR draft ... That June 1st money isn't going to do you any good in FA, because Roddy will stay on the books until then (actually May 12th now). IMO, if they're going to do it, go ahead and do a regular cut, get the $2 million, and don't push any dead money to next year. Either way, I've said all along that keeping Roddy should be a decision based on whether or not he has a role on the team, because there's not much cap benefit of releasing him. hjerry
They seem to be holding off on cutting Hester (and Jackson), until they get their replacements on the roster. Benjamin's year one cap hit would probably not be much more than Hester's scheduled 2016 hit.
Wjcorner
Would be excited to have him...seemed like every time I watched the Browns he'd make a play

Colin_Pernett
I really would love the signing because if we don't sign a starting receiver I think we will spend a second on one and I would rather go LB/DL in the first and second.
