Danny Trevathan ran a 4.82 at the combine without the metrics of Ragland. While I understand wanting a good 40 time to get an idea of how fast someone is, it can't mean TOO much.

just watch the tape. Ragland can't cover. I dont really care what he runs

Word.  4.82 and his coordinator has him out wide on running backs and tight ends in Cover-1 in the middle of potential game-clinching drive.  You don't do that with just any linebacker. :o

The agility drills will tell you so more.

Hey Romfal,

Where are you watching, if you don't mind me asking?  I just watched his snaps vs. Clemson.  Alabama plays a lot of zone with their inside linebackers underneath, and I thought he looked pretty good.  On one play in particular vs. trips, he carried the #3 receiver up the seam better than I've seen a Falcon linebacker do it in a long time.

I was looking for a Texas A&M one, but the one I found was from '14, and he played mostly end on passing downs.

exactly, even his college team pulls him on passing downs, and I know its Bama and they have a lot of talent, but thats very telling.

mostly youtube, recently watched the ole miss game to check out both him, the bama linemen and Nkeditche(spelling)

I think he gets burned at least twice in this one, tho he plays a lot of short zone(maybe RB spy) and he is not looking good covering man IMO even when not targeted, and playing a lot of longer situations on the line.

I do see a lot of Curtis Lofton in his tape, I have some big concerns on whether he can cover RB's in the flat to the corner and also covering TE's.

What does that mean?

3-4 MLBs  are usually protected by scheme so that their coverage weaknesses are arent steadily taken advantage of.

Scheme can hide a lot of deficiencies in players.  Not saying thay Trevathan cant cover, but in a 4-3 he'd be asked to do a lot more of it.

Well, Trevathan did spend the first few years of his career in the 4-3, but fair enough... but what I saw in that AFC Championship game, on the drive for it all, Wade Phillips had enough confidence in him split out wide on Dion Lewis in Cover-1 with no help.  He was essentially on an island playing corner against the Patriots best receiving back.  That's all I need to see.  Point taken, though.

Thanks for this.  I'm going to take a look a little later when I get some time.  When I searched, a little bit of everything came up, a lot of stuff from 2014, the 2015 stuff that I did see was mainly against heavy running teams.

Anybody in this board that supported worrilow has no business knocking Ragland lol that just makes no sense at all

lets just say, a lot of things that are wrong with Worrilow, I have doubts Ragland would fix without a proper supporting cast, not enough of a difference maker, unless we strictly need an upgrade at plug the whole, run stopper.
