Sponge
NFL .com article- TD expecting big things from Coleman. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000638992/article/dimitroff-falcons-expecting-big-things-from-coleman I think Coleman looked great last year, minus the fumbles. Once he gets that fixed he'll be a top 5 RB in the future imo. I see shades of AP in him already.
kiwifalcon
Speed he's got what we're looking for. I guess the Al Davis mantra is making a comeback.
Dem Birds
Coleman would have had a great year if not for the fumbles and Freeman beasting. We have a good duo, problem is for Coleman, Freeman does everything and gets better with more touches.
gazoo
Coleman getting a full training camp learning exactly when to explode the gap will really help the second year player. I also think his head was spinning last year with just too much to learn so the fundamentals of his game like holding onto the football got lost in the shuffle. He didn't have fumblitis in college so I'm hopeful that situation will get corrected this year. I like him and Freeman as our double headed running attack. Coleman was nothing less than spectacular in college blowing by everyone on a regular basis.

Theyhateme : )
Yeah...that first fumble...messed with him quite a bit. He will be a "good" RB.

He may not have fumbled in college, but I think that is more of a factor of the talent he was playing against wasn't as good either... If you go back and watch his highlight films from College, he never covered up the ball when in traffic... I said it in TC last year he was going to cough up the ball a lot in the NFL if he didn't address that lack of awareness when defenders were around... It's been a clear problem in all of his film that I watched, but is correctable... Edit: This is the first example that popped up on Youtube and I'd say he should have had two hands over the ball on a majority of these runs, at certain times at least... KRUNKuno
Coleman is a bust. Yall hyped him up so heavily, too. He, Matt Jones, and Ameer Abdullah had the smallest hands of all running backs last year. Together they combined for 10+ fumbles last year. Combine Coleman's small hands with his knack of having bad footing, and his tendency to only carry the ball in his left hand....he's got a lot of work to do. Much like I don't think you can call Collins a bust, I think calling Coleman a bust, at this juncture, is premature. He's got a great base in which to become a productive back in the NFL if he can correct those things which he is deficient in like not swapping carrying hand depending on where a defender is, covering the ball up in traffic, etc.

Often times as he's coming thru the line, and I'd say a majority of the time as he's going to the ground, he's got both hands on the ball... If AP hangs the ball out there like Coleman does but isn't fumbling, then great, but it would still concern me if I was a Vikings fan. But when I see Freeman and Julio cover that ball the way they do I just feel much better... Everyone is going to fumble, but if players are doing everything they can to not fumble, I am ok with it... ShanghaiDirtyBird
I'm very optimistic as well. But Adrian Peterson? I'm not nearly quite that optimistic. Edited February 26, 2016 by ShanghaiDirtyBird

And I'm not nearly as pessimistic as you, but that's interesting about the small hands. Particularly given Dimitroff's comments just this week about how they like big hands (which sounded really gay to me, NTTAWWT).
HOYLE
He just needs to cover up toward the end of long runs.
takeitdown
Fumbling is correctable. Big question is if he can develop the vision and patience to push the crease until it happens. I like Coleman, really hope he succeeds, but it'll pretty much all come down to that. Finding the hole, two step burst to get through it. Everything else is secondary. You also said that we should have drafted Gregory in the 1st and that he would not have anymore drug issues in the NFL. How about we give players time to develop before we label them a bust? Bobby.Digital
Shades of AP? Come on man. Anyways Coleman should be a lot better this year. Aside from the fumbling and carrying the ball with the wrong hand he needs to work on his lower body strength. He goes down pretty easily. Coleman was nothing less than spectacular in college blowing by everyone on a regular basis. Actually, I think that he did have a problem with fumbles in college. Here is a blurb from Sportsline/CBS Lacks the creative elusiveness to dance his way out of trouble in the open field, showing more of a one-cut style to dart through creases. Has some tightness in his running style, struggling to fluidly change directions on a dime. Will chop his feet at times when the hole isn't there and shows some indecisiveness at the line of scrimmage. Good field speed at the second level, but will never be the fastest player in an NFL stadium. Ball security has room for improvement, especially at the contact point, with four fumbles (three lost) in 2014. I don't have further proof, but I remember some draft talk about him carrying the ball exclusively in his left arm. The few times I saw him run, as a Falcon, he was carrying the ball in his left arm and exposed the ball to defenders a little too much. This is a technique problem that he should be able to correct with work. Tiki Barber was a notorious fumbler until he finally took his job seriously. Let's hope that Tevin is already working on his craft. Edited February 26, 2016 by etherdome

I'm excited to see him get more time in 2016 (hopefully without the fumbles) and give us a killer ground game with Freeman, I think we can use him like a Darren Sproles or a Reggie Bush but have more impact as a runner than those guys did but still be a threat as a receiver out of the backfield. That play last year against the Bucs, OMG!! Ugh!!
