Depends on the price. If they want 6-7+ I say we spend that on another defensive starter or OG. Then just draft a WR in the second or third. Doctson, fuller, cooper, and Shepard would all look good in red and black. Maybe throw in a vet like Nate Washington for cheap.

If we're talking a Benjamin or Osemele/Irvin/Trevathan as our "second" biggest free agent, give me one of the latter. I'd much rather get a young WR and use our funds on more "impactful" positions(as far as short term goes)

I would hope WR wouldn't be our main free agent acquisition. So that's what I mean by second biggest. Sorry that wasn't clear lol.

Let's just say Mario Williams is our prized free agent. I'd rather our next biggest guy be someone like Osemele of Irvin than spending 7 million on someone like Benjamin.

If we shore up DE and OG we could be free to grab a WR in the 2nd or 3rd

Easily Reuben Randell & Travis Benjamin

Randell is the only one of the bunch who has produced good numbers for more than one season. He's not flashy or a 'hot'  name, but he has proven far more than the others that he can actually get the job done. Plus, he's only now starting to really hit his stride as he came out early & is a little younger than the rest of those mentioned. He has pretty much doubled the production of any of the others, and if I'm paying a FA, I want to know they'll be worth it as much as I can. Randell's body of work shows he's capable, while the rest are all a crap shoot. He's also faster than all but Benjamin & might be the tallest of the bunch. I think he'd be an excellent compliment to Julio/replacement for Roddy.

Benjamin gets the nod from me because he'd be a replacement for Hester essentially.

You arent getting Irvin or Osemele for $7 mil a year. Not going to happen. We still need a LB. Too many defensive issues to spend a pick on a WR in the first 3 rounds

Most of that stems from one incident where he got confused on a busted play & cut his route short. Manning expected him to keep going & ended up tossing an INT.

Randell is not perfect, but I think the Giants fans expected too much. They have been spoiled with guys like Cruz, Nicks, and now Beckham. I think a lot of people expected Randell to put up 1200 yards or more after getting on the doorstep of 1000 the year before. All in all, he had a decent year, and it is important to remember that he is still developing as a player. He's admitted that their were miscommunication issues w/ Manning & coaches, but he worked hard to finish strong last year despite the issues. The fans seem to be frustrated by his inconsistency... One minute he seemed like that 1200 yard guy, the next week he was looking like a 500 yard guy. He's still learning & I think with some solid coaching to help keep him focused, the drops & bad route running would be eliminated & he really would turn into something special. He has talent. You can't put up the numbers he has the last 3 years by accident. So, if he's giving you 750-1000 yards as a guy in need of some minor changes, imagine when it all clicks for him.

Fair enough. And I am honestly not trying to argue with you, but just trying to play devils advocate here: So, Randle just needs some solid coaching. They don't have solid coaching in New York? And we have solid coaching, after moving a defensive Coordinator to wide receiver coach?

Giants fans also felt like he was lazy. I think I prefer Sanu and Benjamin but I'm open to learning more about your side on this

He definitely needs to work on his work ethic & maturity a bit. While the coaching staff doesn't seem seasoned enough to take that on, having a guy like Julio setting an example might light a fire under him.

i do not get the Sanu fascination on here. He seems like a guy who's nice for a few trick plays but isn't actually much of a WR. I just see Harry Douglas all over again... 500 yards & 2TDs year in & year out. Heard he runs nice routes & has ok hands but struggles to get separation. Might as well just keep Roddy then if that's the case.

A guy who's never mentioned that could be a low cost sleeper type FA signing is Chris Givens. He started strong a few years ago but then had setbacks with injury & inconsistent QB play. He's healthy now & with a decent QB throwing him the ball he may be able to build on the big playmaking ability he showed in the past.
