I believe he is that good. But defense wins championships. And he would be a luxury pick. Build the defense up is the way this team should go

I agree defense is the way to go, but I believe there will be a huge effort into filling some holes in free agency so that we can have that luxury.

BPA. Doctson is the real deal.Julio wasn't a need, but we knew we'd need to find Roddy's replacement eventually. Julio and Doctson would be dominant together.

I was preaching for Doctson during the season saying the same thing about he and julio making a killer combo.

Then it became painfully obvious that our #2 receiver isnt that important in this system so I cooled on getting him.  But yes if he's there in the 2nd, we had better gallop to the podium.

My only concern on him is that he's a bit slender, but one offseason would fill him out.

From Rotoworld........  Kick returner as well as a nice young WR....... I'm in....

NFL draft insider Tony Pauline passes along "word from the Combine" that the Chargers and Falcons are "in the hunt" for free agent Travis Benjamin.

Benjamin makes a ton of sense in both locales as a speed complement to Keenan Allen (San Diego) and Julio Jones (Atlanta). Reports out of Cleveland as recently as last week had Benjamin "very close" to re-signing with the Browns, but multiple reports on Tuesday indicated those talks had broken down. At age 26, Benjamin will be a coveted commodity if he hits the free agent market.

Those were arbitrary numbers. I'm just saying a big improvement at C and status quo at WR would benefit us more than status quo at C and a big improvement at WR (Benjamin)

Oh, I totally get what you were saying, I just think people aren't looking at C in a way that actually makes sense.

We likely had the worst C in the NFL last year. Do we need to get better there? Absolutely. Do we need to overpay some hot name to do it? Absolutely not, but everyone is sooooo freaked out by how bad we were at that position last year that they think we need to sell the farm to get better. We don't.

The difference in play between what Barnes could give us in this system, and what the more popular names people often mention could give would likely be absolutely minimal. Barnes, physically & schematically, might actually be a slightly better fit than a few of those names & would quite possibly outperform them.

Going into panic mode & shelling out tons of money to a hot name FA when there are players sitting there for considerably less & who in all likelihood would give you equal or better production is an incredibly bad move IMO.

Meh Mike Wallace will get cut and cost half as much. If all we want is a guy to run straight, he's your man.

Chris Givens will be available & will be even cheaper than Wallace. Dude looked very promising early on despite having garbage at QB throwing him the ball. Could be a huge FA steal/sleeper if he gets in the right situation.

This...........

11-12. Roddy White and Devin Hester, Atlanta Falcons: White said after the season he wouldn't take a pay cut to stay, which seemingly ended his incredible tenure of the team. Yet the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported this month the Falcons are leaning to retaining" White for his leadership.

"It's not always about the talent," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said.

No, but it's really rare to see a team keep a 16-game starter that barely topped 500 yards at a big salary. Perhaps the Falcons see that they'll only save $4.2 million if they cut White, and want to see how training camp goes. Hester, who is due $3 million in base salary this season, is a much safer bet to be released. He wasn't a difference maker as a returner or receiver last year.

Now i love me some Doctson.  Fsvortie player in the draft.

He's going 1st round imo.

That would be unfortunate because we cannot use the our 1st pick for anything other than a DL or LB. Some of the mocks I've been seeing have Doctson in the bottom part of the 2nd round, which would be perfect for us.

God I hope we can get him. He is perfect for what we need. He is the guy I have been wanting this entire offseason so far

Depends on the price. Don't remember that many deep throws last year. Was that because Matt couldn't make them or nobody was getting open?

Yes. Remember the throw to Julio in the Carolina game. Matt put every ounce of strength he had and it floated 55 yards. I can do that right now, 30 plus years after throwing my last competitive pass in college.

First off how is it effective? The numbers say otherwise.

Flacco attempted alot more deep passes than Ryan. Plus one guys has had Julio and Roddy to work with for most of his career while the other had Torrey Smith and .....?

The reason why I'm bringing up how it looks is because his deep ball is hard to catch. He makes the WRs job tougher than it should be. If you ever played football you'd know that. Julio's TD catch vs the Bucs in 2014 is a perfect example what I'm talking about.

Another thing is look at Benjamins highlights from this year and how he scores his TDs. He scores off balls that are thrown very deep down the field. Can you see Ryan consistentlymaking those throws? I can't. I just don't see how Ryan and Benjamin would be a good fit for each other. Then factoring in the money it would cost to bring in Benjamin it just doesn't make sense.

Using the numbers you posted Matt Ryan was better than Joe Flacco in both yards per attempt and on target passes. That has nothing to do with who or who isn't the receiver.

Lol are you kidding? If the WR isn't able to create separation then your less likely to complete the pass. Also not sure if you ever watched the Ravens play but Flacco usually takes a shot down the field when nothing is open. Usually it's more of a throwaway than anything. But anyways this is besides the point. You still haven't proven how Ryan is a good deep ball thrower. Go do you homework and come back with some numbers.
