Last week, reports had him re-signing with Cleveland. I like him, but interior Oline, LBs, and Pass rusher are our primary needs.  Benjamin would help and some of his costs could be offset by Roddy if needed.

Latest reports have talks breaking down between the two.

This is tough. Free Agents usually get overpaid but if we have to overpay, we should do it for a pass rusher, not a WR2. We should be able to draft a starting WR2 in the 2nd or 3rd round, maybe a big bodied guy like Josh Doctson.

Now i love me some Doctson.  Fsvortie player in the draft.

He's going 1st round imo.

Those are my thoughts also. Benjamin happens to be a good returner so he kills two birds with one stone.

Well, if there's one thing that I garnered about Quinn over the last year, based on all the talk about his relationship with Armstrong, it's that Quinn loves him some ST. He values it very highly.

Lol if you consider a ball that travels 20 yards deep then yeah he's good. But anything more than 35 yards is bad.

Very few NFL QBs can throw the ball accurate 35 yards down the field dude. I posted the numbers on here a couple years back and Matt Ryan's completion percentage and QB rating on passes thrown 30 yards down the field were in the top 10 in the NFL. But please continue with this myth that Ryan sucks at throwing deep.

A couple years back? How is that relevant now? Post his updated numbers. I'm trying to find them as we speak.

Well then you know his numbers for 2015 are going to be terrible because he had a terrible year overall and you want those numbers because they'll fit your agenda that he's a terrible deep passer. I've played this game many times on here with different posters over the years so you're not going to trick me. Why don't you post Peyton Manning's numbers too and say that he's a terrible deep passer when we know that was not the case for his his entire career. But that's exactly what you're trying to do with Matt Ryan and it's not objective.

Although I agree Benjamin would help us stretch the field, I'm not comfortable paying a guy more than 5 mil a year that won't get targeted often in Shanahan's system. I'd rather go with Randle or Sanu or someone like that and spend the savings on the O-line. That will make our offense better than adding Benjamin.

Paying a center 9 mil a year and paying a receiver 3 mil will make our offense better than reversing the two. IMO.

Just one year, right?

Don't get me started on Doctson man. Walterfootball has him reaching the 2nd, but he won't stay there after the combine. In the miracle he makes it to our 2nd round pick, I'd sprint to the podium.

I'll do my own homework later and prove that wrong because it is wrong.

Lol the numbers are right there but do what you gotta do.

It's not like we haven't all watched Ryan his whole career. His deep ball is ugly as ****. Go compare it with guys like Rodgers, Big Ben, Stafford, Flacco, Brees, Wilson etc

Depends on the center.

You don't need to pay a guy like Tim Barnes $9M/year, and he would be perfect for what we need.

Barnes is just 27, has experience as an NFL starter, has the ideal athleticism for the scheme, has an awesome work ethic, and won't cost a fortune.

IMO, signing Barnes makes way more sense than Mack, Wiz, etc.

I don't care how it looks, it's effective. Flacco is one of the worst deep ball throwers in the NFL. It doesn't matter if it looks pretty or not. It's all about effectiveness and Ryan for his career has been more effective throwing deep than Flacco and the fact that you are talking about just how a guy's passes look tells me that is what matters to you. Actually completing them doesn't matter.

Those were arbitrary numbers. I'm just saying a big improvement at C and status quo at WR would benefit us more than status quo at C and a big improvement at WR (Benjamin)

First off how is it effective? The numbers say otherwise.

Flacco attempted alot more deep passes than Ryan. Plus one guys has had Julio and Roddy to work with for most of his career while the other had Torrey Smith and .....?

The reason why I'm bringing up how it looks is because his deep ball is hard to catch. He makes the WRs job tougher than it should be. If you ever played football you'd know that. Julio's TD catch vs the Bucs in 2014 is a perfect example what I'm talking about.

Another thing is look at Benjamins highlights from this year and how he scores his TDs. He scores off balls that are thrown very deep down the field. Can you see Ryan consistentlymaking those throws? I can't. I just don't see how Ryan and Benjamin would be a good fit for each other. Then factoring in the money it would cost to bring in Benjamin it just doesn't make sense.

BPA. Doctson is the real deal.Julio wasn't a need, but we knew we'd need to find Roddy's replacement eventually. Julio and Doctson would be dominant together.

I believe he is that good. But defense wins championships. And he would be a luxury pick. Build the defense up is the way this team should go
