Go straight to WR coach, Roddimus!

I doubt we're there quite yet but we definitely might be getting close. I do wonder what kind of discussions he and Blank might be having. Blank gave that one guy who had been in prison after being falsely accused a job after he got cut. I know Blank must have communicated that he's going to take care of Roddy after retirement. What kind of job do you want? On the sideline? Maybe something in the front office. Is there any way we can meet in the middle? Create a little cap space to make a Super Bowl run in your last season of two?

His plan is to retire a Falcon, but as has been said, the best laid plans of mice and men, gang aft agley. I think he'll be making new plans very soon. I just don't see how he fits anywhere in Shanahan's offense, but of far more relevance, I don't think Shanahan sees him fitting anywhere in his offense. Much can be said of White's leadership and value as a mentor.

However, if that leadership role is enough for the money he'll make and the roster spot he will continue to take, then my bet is he'll be here for the duration.

No new information from this article.  Just more of the same speculation.  We already knew RW wanted to finish here.  Nobody even knows if there are negotiations behind th the scenes.

Yeah, I saw this tweet yesterday and thought nothing of it.  He literally just answered "yes I do".

The whole, "he should take a pay cut" is ridiculous. The Falcons offered him the contract when he was 32. Obviously his play was going to decline with age. Still, the parties agreed to the terms of the contract, so why should Roddy take a pay cut?

First legit response I've seen regarding this.  I can't argue against it, but at the same time it's tough to swallow his contract as it is.  I really don't care anymore.  They'll do what they do when they do it.

This is where I am... I simply don't care anymore. Roddy is gone whether its this upcoming season or the season after. Not even worth arguing over.

Exactly. People may argue that an extra 1-3M isn't much for a player like Roddy since he's made a good bit in his career, but that extra 1-3M could essentially pay for college for the next 15-20 generations of his family.

Because he sucks? Contracts dont always work out and often are renegotiated. This is one of those cases.

By that logic no guy would ever get cut ever. It's frankly a ridiculous way to think. The team signs the contract with the assumption the player will maintain a minimum level of performance. When that level of performance falls below the value of the contract and that value can be replaced or exceeded for cheaper, then the guy gets cut. He can get cut...or he can take a pay cut.

How does Roddy suck?  And please don't give me the Aaron Freeman pseudo analytical "he didn't get targets because he sucks" babble.  When Roddy was targeted, he made plays  at the same or better rate than any other starter including Julio.  No matter what we do with RW, we will need to replace Hankerson and my feel is that ousting Roddy is a low priority until we absolutely need the 2M in cap we save this year (4M if we defer 2M to 2017 with a post June cut).

You just compared roddy to julio lol? Roddys stats are crap compared to julio. Debate over.

The contract also says that the Falcons can cut him at any time.  The pay cut is up to him.  Right now Roddy might barely be an effective #3 receiver.  It's really up to him if he wants to be cut or not.

I didn't say anything about him getting cut. I'm just saying it'd be ridiculous to ask him for a pay cut. If they cut him, fine, but they'll still have to absorb the dead money plus it'll leave a really bad taste in Julio's mouth.

Since Roddy is such a talker, he'll take DJ Shockley's job...
