ike barn87987
On 92.9 that we should be looking at a WR/TE @17 to take some pressure off JJ because it's a deep draft for d Linemen.
Tribal Chief
Sounds no different than the opinions that are posted here. Means nothing in reality
MD-FalconFan13
If Treadwell is available at #17 you strongly consider drafting him. Besides that, no

Summerhill
There is merit to this thinking. If the front 7 group is deep and the players picked in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are half a round better than what you would normally see, that is where the value is, not in the 1st round. FalconFanSince1969
OR we could use the opportunity to actually get some front 7 talent in a deep draft by double and even triple dipping on it?
blizzard_falcon
He isn't the only draftnik I've seen with the same opinion. A lot of them have us taking a WR or TE in the 2nd, and I've seen Treadwell mocked to us at #17 a couple of times. They're probably looking at the statistics and thinking "the Falcons have no weapons other than Julio Jones" and not taking into account that Shanahan force-fed it to Julio over and over. And while I do agree that we need an upgrade at No. 2 WR, spending out 1st round pick there seems unnecessary.
Sandy5prings
Mayock was talking about Interior DL, not edge rushers. We need a DE or OLB more than a DT.

PHALCONABERNATHY
No he didn't say that. He said we have to pick a good football player. Whether that be a WR, S, interior OL or LB. We could go any of those directions and mentioned picking a WR with that pick because there could be some good ones there.
Lornoth
TE is a bigger need than people seem to think. I wouldn't inherently be opposed to one in the first few rounds if the talent is there. I'm a little less enthused about a WR, we can get a good one in FA without breaking the bank.

spiker
In NO Way shape or Form should we draft a WR with our 1st round pick.

PapaJoe
I think I might consider Falconcide if they draft a WR in first round.

Rise
Watch: The Falcons reach on a WR (Tradwell may be gone)--becasue they can't get good picks for trading -down, and all of the big D-Line talents are gone..even Dodd is gone by pick#49 in the 2nd round.. Mayock doesn't care if The Falcons win anything.(and he isn't supposed to care..really) WR isn't deep in the 1st round or this draft...,but Mayock was always about cleaning-up in the 2 and 3rd rounds of a draft that is deep in a certain position. So, he is consistent here.. If Matt Ryan, Julio, Roddy, and Hardy struggled to understand this offense, a rookie is going to dominate? Just because Ryan and the others understand it better now? Gold4425
Treadwell is a game changer and the only WR worthy of us taking at 17. But I don't think he will be there
