mashburn*Fibonacci
They are 22 million plus. Now when I first saw it, I laughed. Specially since they are negative in cap space (not sure how much Evans helped). But then I saw the number two spot went to us at 15+ million. So my laughter stopped. To me that is not good unless you have something to show for it. And it changed my opinion on Thomas being a good GM at signing. Edit: how would you like to be Sam Baker and you haven't played in two years. Yet you are getting a check next year for 6.4 million dollars? Mr.11
I suppose that's gonna happen when you have a lot of roster turnover due to new coaching staff adding and unloading players to fit schemes. Not sure why this matters since the team has plenty of cap room to use. Edited February 10, 2016 by JerseyNo12
FentayeJones
Mostly due to cutting Baker, Asamoah and Moore. When you start cutting players you incur dead money. They were all injured anyway and we were not getting any use out of them so it was just like having dead money when they were on the roster.. takeitdown
It's unfortunate, but it's what happens when you change systems. We've changed from 4-3 to 3-4 and back to 4-3 (different variations of each) in the last 3 years. As well as changing the blocking scheme on offense. That's a fundamental changeover. That's not a good enough reason. Sure crap happens. But Sam should have never been signed that way. Asamaugh should have not even got close to that. And Moore was given to much overall. Again, the team has plenty of cap room to add top tier free agents. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Im not sure what you expect to happen when players are cut... dead money is part of it. Edited February 10, 2016 by FentayeJones

That's all on lousy Player acquisition. Good players can play any scheme. Bad players who act like they have two left feet when a scheme changes, are not good. Soliai did his part the best he could. I'm just stating a fact, ant man The only fact you've stated is the dead money figure, which most everyone in here has already explained as being largely due to roster turnover because of new coaching staff. It's really not an issue considering current cap space.

Most don't. Your average penetrating DT can't play a 0 technique the way a conventional 3-4 is set up. Your average clogger NT can't play a penetrator. Your average 3-4 ILB can't transition to a 4-3 OLB. Your average slow footed power scheme OG can't transition to a wide zone scheme. Sure, the Haloti Ngatas, and Patrick Willis's can make those transitions. But those are the exceptions, not the norms, even for the NFL. PK Manley
We're also one of the few teams to release anybody yet, and we've released three so far if you include Asamoah late in the season. It makes sense that we'd have more dead money right now, but our current number would only have been the 19th most last year. Look again after the rest of the teams make their moves. Heck go look at the eagles history of dead cap on 2014. Talk about a huge change. And they were less then 10 million.

WOR
I really really wish we could bring back the neg system to help combat all the ******* whining that goes on around here. Its just one one massive ***** fest. There's being critical. And then there's just complaining because you feel like it. This falls in the latter.
