treboyplay
I'll start off by saying this is not a Matt Ryan bashing thread. I just want to share my thoughts and see what others here think. I've been a big Matt Ryan fan and have argued for yrs with my friends that he is a good NFL QB. But I also have to admit that some things I saw last yr disturbed me and I wonder if it's time to at least get a quality back up who can learn the system and even start if needed in the next yr or two. I think the way the league is headed, with all the speed on defense. Taking a look at a more athletic QB is something the Falcons and every other team without one should do. A friend of mine showed me a kid named Jacoby Brissett who is slated to be a 2nd-3 round or later draft pick. He's a big QB. With a strong arm and speed when he pulls the ball down and takes off. Anyway, I would love to see what everyone else thinks. If not him then maybe you guys know some later round QB's we should take a look at. Halsey.
I'm generally on board with having a talented backup, in case he needs to play and/or can be flipped in a trade down the line, however, the Falcons have a lot of needs and Ryan has only missed 2 games in 8 seasons. JC Falcon
Wrong draft to get one. We need get 2-3 guys that can contribute immediately from this upcoming draft. After 2016, yes we should look for an athletic QB backup.
Ben Day Hoe
Put one in the seventh round of my quicky offseason draft.
high impact
No cause it would take a super star talent to matter if Ryan were to go down with all this team needs. So whats the point.
ramonezy
Nope. This can be addressed in 2018
Gold4425
No! We have TOO MANY needs to spend a second or third rounder on a QB. There are some low cost options in F A

We need a vet backing up Ryan. If we go from Matt Ryan to Jacoby Brissett we're screwed. Trust me. Or Sean Renfree for that matter. We'd be better off with Briscoe Darlin at QB. With that said Ill leave yall with some Briscoe footage. My all time favorite Andy actor. Best Andy episode by far.
MayorWest13
If they draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd, I'll get out of my chair. Grab my television and walk to the gas station thats a block or two away. Then throw the television in the dumpster then go inside the gas station and grab some beer. Romfal
3rd or 4th, IF we trade down and get more picks. As it stands it will be hard to justify spending one of those top 4 picks on a player who won't contribute at all next season. I would be ok with giving Dak Prescott a look in the 3rd if we had more picks.
Beast-N-Da-Sheetz
I'd take Boykin late, hopefully we snatch him up undrafted. No to one in the 2nd or 3rd tho.
JayOzOne
Five picks this year. We can't waste one on somebody that we hope won't play this year or next.

Its alright to be thankful for MR(post Vick) and realize he is not the answer...at least in no way has he proved it.
BeRom
2018 projected to be good year for QB's. That's when we need to get Matt's successor. Try to find a decent veteran for '16 and '17. No way we get Deshawn Watson. Some NFL types predict he may be the #1 pick. Carlton Wentz looked VERY good in Senior Bowl but if he has a good Combine he will be out of reach as well. Sidecar Falcon
Grab Vernon Adams in the 7th round. Very talented QB and reminds me of Russell Wilson in terms of play.

Summerhill
While there has been a recent spike in quality mid-round QBs like Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins, historically it is a horrible investment. QB is the most important position in the game and in any given year roughly 10 teams don't have a good QB. So if in any given draft all those 10 teams pass on a QB prospect 3-4 times, chances are he has a major problem. You're much better off targeting a different position that has more room for error. The best time to draft a QB is when you have a top 10 pick. Edited February 1, 2016 by Summerhill
