Door Gunner
Can Gino get it done? I was looking around for some info on him. Not seeing much. I figure some of y'all know some good links to reed up on him. What I have found doesn't have him looking good. Still looking for more on my end. Oh, and I Found another article on Alex Mack . After the Browns matched an offer sheet from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, Mack has the right to opt out of his contract, which would pay him $8 million in 2016. The 30-year-old offensive lineman, who is in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, is still undecided on his future, according to Conor Orr of NFL.com (h/t Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk). “It was good to leave the season, take some time off and let that all shake out,” Mack said Thursday. “Really happy [the Browns] got everything handled early and they found their guy. They’re getting a staff together quickly. It’s going in the right direction. I think they’ve got good things going in the right places.” Former Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson was hired for the same job in Cleveland, but there's a lot of work to do for a franchise that's finished with a losing record the past eight seasons. Florio pointed out that Mack can void the final year and test the market, possibly forcing Cleveland to offer more than $8 million. He can expect to receive offers higher than that from other teams, Florio noted, which will make it hard for Cleveland to re-sign him. As Mack enters the latter part of his career, he may want to join a contending team. The Browns, who have a new coach, no clear starting quarterback, a struggling defense and no recent history of winning, don't have much to offer other than the fact that they're the only team to ever employ Mack. The NFL is a business, and like any other, those involved are always trying to get the best deal. Returning to Cleveland doesn't appear to provide that for Mack, meaning the chances are high he lands with a new team for the 2016 season. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2612450-alex-mack-latest-news-rumors-and-speculation-on-brown-centers-future Edited January 31, 2016 by Door Gunner

JD dirtybird21
Mack would be awesome but if he truly wants to play for a contender, I doubt the Falcons are on his list. He likely wants to play for New England or Green Bay.
Romfal
I really don't see any scenario in which we get Mack. I hope we make a run for Ben Jones from Houston. Haven't looked at the draft much yet when it comes to O-line.

I looked in to Ribeus, I don't think its a great fit and the main issue I have with him is, even though he was drafted by shanahan, he didnt play much at all under him in two years there. He is now finally starting in a different scheme in DC

Sidecar Falcon
Draft Mike Matthews in the later rounds, excellent pedigree and ability. Can get the job done.

Jake and Mike would feed off each other on the Oline just like Shaq Lawson and Beasley (former teammates) would on the Dline.
Bobby.Digital
Im honestly amazed how overrated Alex Mack is on this board. His play has fell off big time. Mike Matthews is the answer. I know he's a rookie but he's a stud prospect imo.
Halsey.
Not convinced center is a position that would be worth giving too big a contract for someone like Mack. How about finding a good one in the mid to late round of the Draft.
Door Gunner
Good to see more names to read up on. Ben Jones looks interesting. I like the idea of the Matthews brothers but didn't see much on mike and I could only find one game on YouTube to look at. A side note: I found it interesting that Jones was the #2 rated center in his draft class behind Konz. Wouldn't every team want a "sure" starter at OC? Just food for thought... Edited February 1, 2016 by Matt_The Iceman_Ryan
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
Gino Gradkowski kind of sucks. He isnt a reliable starting option. if he's a depth center, that's fine (though not ideal).

Jesus
Who's to say Person doesn't improve his snaps this summer and the line gels next season. Person wasn't the worst blocker. Once Ryan is more comfortable in the scheme he will be able to make quicker, better decisions using the blocking he has in place.

trubirdfan4life
I dont like the idea of drafting a guy in the 6th or 7th and banking on him to become what we need RIGHT NOW! A project? Ok. I want a guy who is a bona-fide starter now...either free agent or 2nd or 3rd....Dallas didnt build their line with late round draft picks....you can get lucky every now and then. But that cant be your plan for success.

Chances are, if we dont draft a guy early, we only replace chester who is a free agent....the line played much better as the season went on
FentayeJones
I have a feeling Gino Gradkowski will be the starting Center going into next season.

thanat0s
Even more than guards, center is a desperate need on our offense. My free agency belief has always been, you only spend to fix problems, not patch them. Mack is a long term fix, and worth every penny. Based on Macks play the last two years what makes you think he's a long term fix and worth the money?
