We Asked Terrell Owens Who He Thinks Is the Best Receiver in the NFL. His Answer Might Surprise You

The NFL is enjoying a golden age of wide receivers. The talent at the position is nothing short of astounding, and the numbers posted by wide receivers are eye-popping. But with so many extraordinary receivers in the league right now, one question is bound to arise—who's the best?

Perhaps no one is more qualified to answer that question than Terrell Owens, whose 15,934 career receiving yards rank second in league history, and his 156 career receiving touchdowns rank third. STACK recently spoke with the six-time Pro Bowler and asked him who in his opinion was currently the king of the NFL receiver mountain.

"I'm gonna go with Calvin Johnson. I think with both what he's done throughout his career and the durability he's been able to obtain," Owens said. "If you think about the people who have sustained a long career, a lot of their longevity has to do with their durability and being able to be on the field to perform. So that factors in to who I see as the best of the best, so right now Calvin Johnson is at the top of that list. But there's a few guys that are nipping at his heels."

Owens' answer might come as a surprise given the recent success of guys like Antonio Brown and DeAndre Hopkins, but T.O. is obviously taking Megatron's extensive body of work into account. Johnson has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards and 77 receptions in six consecutive seasons. He also had a very solid 2015, playing in every game and hauling in 88 receptions for 1,214 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns.

Owens also believes Julio Jones can be an all-time great if he can stay healthy. "You think about a guy like Julio Jones, if he can stay consistently healthy, he's definitely going to eclipse a number of those guys like Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Dez Bryant," Owens said.

Do you agree with T.O. that Megatron should still be considered the best receiver in football?

I actually get where he's coming from,  but as of right now this happens tobe the point where Calvin is slowing down,  so it's most definitely debatable.  Still Julio has yet to reach the heights that Calvin has obtained during his prime years.

Bottom line: Of all the great receivers playing today give me the literal beast that is Julio.

Seriously. Beckham and Bryant are good, no doubt. Better than Julio? No friggin way. Antonio Brown is the only WR right now in Julio's league. Those to me will be the top 2 for a while.

I have OBJ in the same tier as Julio and AB. Don't see anyway he's not. Best start to a career of all time and might be the most consistent WR in the league. Stud. Julio is the most talented imo. Can't state how much better he would be with a QB who has a stronger arm.

Odell is NOTHING without his sticky gloves.

I'm fine with players wearing them. It makes the game more interesting.

What bugs me is when people and players act like they have tremendous hands. You're wearing glue. Stop it.

I agree. I seen a news reporter talking about wearing sticky gloves compared to the golden age of being barehanded. He gave a demonstration where he looked like a pro bowler wearing them :D

The statistical start to his career is kinda beside the point here though.  That is another discussion in my eyes. We're talking about best all around game in a wr. I do realize the case can be made though,  and whether people want to admit it or not,  physical ability and talent is included in that.  Jmo.

Another thing about Beckham for me,  is that if you want to argue him being  at the top of the list, you have to put him ahead of Antonio Brown before up can even compare him to Julio. I still don't think you can do that objectively though.  Antonio Brown right now is a better overall receiver in my eyes.

All that said,  as i hear my boi j always point out, ultimately there's really no way to objectively,  tangibly put one over the other when discussing the best of the best. It's not as fun that way, but there's really no arguing with that.

David Pollack basically recreated Beckham's catch on espn. I think one thing about Beckham,  is that if it weren't for that one play,  combined with the fact that he plays in the largest public market in the country,  he wouldn't be as hyped.

Remember stickum?  Fred Beletnikov (sp) LOL... but you still needed hands man.  Man that was the stone age. But they banned stickum and now look...

I got to get a pair of these gloves and see for myself.

LOL. Jack Tatum and George Atkinson used to spray that nasty stuff on their hands, arms, and jersey. Between Stickum and breakaway jerseys, players tried everything to get an advantage back then.

Can anyone name the teams that won A Superbowl with a superstar wide receiver in the starting line-up?

Without thinking hard, I can think of the Niners with Jerry Rice, the Steelers with Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, the Raiders with Cliff Branch and Fred Belitnikoff, the Dolphins with Paul Warfield, the Rams with Isaac Bruce, and the Cowboys with Michael Irvin.
