Just thought I would start a thread asking you what you are expecting to hear or see out of the Falcons players here in the off season???? Getting cabin fever already missing the regular season....

What are your expectations for the players in the off season? Should they eat pies and hamburgers or should they stay in contact with fans and work out 24/7?

Are you expecting them to be quiet and not say nothing? Is that a good thing if so? Or are you expecting them to act and speak out loud with the upcoming super bowl in the media? Ya know Matt Ryan I think I heard was going to be on NFL Network maybe tomorrow or so, or in an interview on one of the major networks. Sorry no link, just thought of that. Add the info if you know please, and thank you for doing so!

What ya watching for? Released players? New Editions?

Make this YOUR THREAD with your thoughts and opinions, flame away, I'm fire proof and can handle it!

I just wanted to hear everyone's "REAL THOUGHTS" as to their expectations for the players STILL ON THE FALCONS ROSTER here in the off season??????

I for one was glad to read post about Matt Ryan and the Wrs planning on some workouts this offseason.  We need receivers other than Jones on the same page and who Ryan trust throwing the ball.  I hope Matt Ryan is learning more about Shanny's offense as well.  As far as the organization's offseason, I will be interested in seeing who we target and sign as FAs. I think we have missed more than hit on FAs the past few years. We have so many holes and so few draft picks this is an especially important FA signing year in my opinion.

More than anything, I'm curious to see who they pursue in free agency. Every position on D other than CB needs an upgrade in talent, and I'm interested to see what they try to fix via FA vs the draft.

A good thought in a prior post as well in terms of cuts.

Agreed. I want a solid veteran in every position on the offensive line. I trust Quinn to find defensive talent, but I don't want to be going into the draft knowing that we have a major hole at center or guard.

I am sure many will agree when I say I would like to see an active approach to fix the offensive and defensive lines. I am interested to see if Quinn and company can score a few big name free agents this year on the defensive side of the ball. I am tired of getting guys like the Tyson Jackson's and Ray Edward's of the world.

I want to see who we pursue in free agency. Last year, we got short term players to hold the line while Quinn and company installed their systems and got players they could develop. I'm thinking we will pursue interior linemen who are more likely to be here for four or five years instead of one or two. I believe we will hold on to Lavitre since we coughed up a pick for him, but the other two interior positions need to upgrade significantly. I don't want to see its blow money for the sake of a flashy signing, but if we go for reasonably priced, high upside cast offs, then I'll know that we aren't serious about putting the best team on the field. Again.

I'm also looking forward to the draft. With five picks, we need to hit on all of them so this will be the most exciting draft in a while. Speaking of that, I can't wait to see how Vic, Coleman, Collins, Hardy, and Grady develop. We can go from mediocre to pretty darn good if these guys progress as they should.

I'm hoping to see some form of direct approach from the front office / DQ. What I mean is that they attack the glaring issues we have in the OL / LBs / DEs. So if FA and early draft picks are used on those I'll be happy, I just want movement in the right direction. If they go the route of the Colts and draft a TY Hilton in the first round then I'll be slightly more than disheartened.

I'd say the past two draft classes have been baby steps in the right direction, esp with our first round picks of Matthews and Beasley. Hopefully it continues.

Fire proof.  Awesome.

Thanks for the post up GeorgiaFalconFan.

For me, I sort of feel the same way Mike McCarthy feels as the GB Packers head coach.  He came out and just flat out said that he's fed up with the way his boss, Ted Thompson, goes about FA pickups.  That's a pretty bold statement.

I too feel like our fans would like to see our staff pursuing veteran difference makers rather than shop for run of the mill filler players at bargain basement contracts.

Now there is nothing wrong with being wise with our money and getting nice value.  But every now and then you need to go get a guy who is a freaking playmaker!!

The last guy I recall getting super pumped about was ABE.  I was stoked.  And yes, just look how awesome of a FA signing that was.  He's the only pass rush Atlanta has had in ages.

We're overdue for another one like that.

Looking forward to hearing who we talk to and visit with through all the combines and pro-days. Of course there will be lots of fluff piece articles becuase, hey, its the offseason.

Really want to see us address getting an NFL quality starting Center and at minimum 2 new starting LBs. The rest is gravy.

I want us to have build a complete team before the draft so that we can draft BPA.   We don't need to draft middle of the road types, or long term project guys.  We need impact players, and those type players don't normally get away from their original team in FA unless they are just that expensive, like Suh, or they have injury concerns like Brees.   Difference makers are best found in the draft.
