RYNE
The same thing is happening that happened a few years back when we took Trufant and Alford. Everyone and their brother sat around here and said "Oh we are going to get a Tight End." Every mock draft had us grabbing Eifert or Ertz. Same thing with the "experts" in the media and the people who do mock drafts. I would come on here every single day and say "we don't even have a freaking corner on the roster, there is zero chance we are taking a TE in the first round." Although there aren't as many now as there has been the past few weeks the same type of thing has been happening this year so let me clear it up for you and hopefully some of you can get a clue.We are not... Under any circumstances getting a wide receiver in the 1st round. It's just not going to happen. If you think it is then you have absolutely no clue about a variety of things such as...the falcons Dann Quinn Why our season was bad For god sakes... I understand some of you are more casual fans, but get this thought out of your heads for the benefit of everyone. Teams that take WR's all the time for no reason are called the lions. It's not us. Wide receiver is the least of our problems.Matt Ryan can't stay on his feet because the interior offensive line is so pathetic. Our Strong safety can't cover or tackle. We have no pass rush besides a small glimmer of hope a game or two from Beasely. Our line backers are probably the worst in the NFL. We are paying the 2nd best wide receiver in the game 70 million dollars. And finally Dann Quinn doesn't give a god daym about wide receivers. For those reasons I will say again...we are not getting a wide receiver. Wake up people!!! Have a nice day

RYNE
I haven't seen one person saying we are getting a WR in the first round. Link ?I have seen a bunch the past few weeks. I'm on my phone so I can't link anything at the moment. The general point is if your mock doesn't have a first round Guard, Center, or defensive player then just delete it. Probably should start with a defensive player if we are being honest but at least I could understand the Oline pick

RYNE
Why are we paying Antonio Brown 70 mill? Hahaha I think until Julio finds the endzone more Brown has to be #1. Glad you knew who I was talking about.Side note I don't think it's Julios fault he doesn't score more touchdowns. They barely use him in the redzone

TheUsualStuff
I've only seen a couple of people suggest we take a WR, but get on with the righteous indignation about draft ignorance going on. Rage against the almost nonexistent machine! It would certainly be an unwise decision, indeed.

There are a lot more folks in that thread that are against taking a WR in the 1st round than are for it.

Jesus
I find it hard to believe that the team signs Durant and Reed to 3 year deals watches them struggle with injuries while the defense improved from 32 to middle of the pack, then cuts them and replaces them with inexperienced rookies. They believed enough in Worrilow to make him a captain and keep him starting. Fans tend to overanalyze everything but whomever we take in round one probably won't be what everyone expects. KRUNKuno
This scheme doesnt really require a potent #2 wrTight end, yes.I love me some Josh Doctson though.
Lornoth
Every year there are a lot more people saying we need to draft a WR #1 than there should be. I really do not understand it.
deester11
So we shouldn't take a WR in the first? But it's so obvious it's the most pressing need.

RHEC
We need a WR, C, OG, DE, DT, LB, S, TE, in no order.

It's not like it hurts my feelings that somebody else disagrees either. Nor would it hurt my feelings if he simply was not the best. I just don't think you can make a determination like that based on one stat: tds. I just think if you where to poll all of the dbs in the league and asked them who the most dominant wr in the league is/who is the hardest to guard, I'm pretty sure right now they would say Julio. CraigSmackDaddy
I'm all for taking BPA in the first couple of rounds. I don't think we should take a WR in the 1st but if there is a talent there that is head and shoulders above another position of need then I'm ok with it. I personally hope we can fill at least 1 need on OL and DL in FA so we don't reach for a player in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Seriously though, why be upset with people who want WR in the first? I too think that it won't happen. I myself see the Falcons going after a safety or the best defensive player available at 17. Of course the front office could surprise us with a trade up/down. The Falcons have somewhat of a trading chip with Jake Long on the roster, but it all depends in how free agency plays out, as well as June first cuts. It's going to be an interesting offseason to say the least.
