Falcons Will No Longer Accept Military Funds

Recommended Posts

In the end it doesn't matter. The NFL and the Military are both businesses. They had a business relationship and it's over, period. People get up in arms about absolutely nothing.

Well, it's true that the military is a business in this country, but it's not supposed to be. You say people are up in arms about nothing, but public pressure is why the Falcons stopped taking money.

It's not supposed to be, but that's how it is. Public pressure causes a lot of things to happen. In the end it wasn't an entirely worthless investment. The Military gets to promote it's campaign and the NFL gets to make money. There are WAY dumber things the government spends it's money on. To focus on this one particular area is asinine compared the billions it spends on idiotic things. For example they put money into building a robotic squirrel.

^ and this type of attitude is what has led us to our tax dollars being handed out like candy.

Smh...in case you haven't been paying attention. Our tax dollars are being used for a ton of useless things. What essentially amounts to a recruiting campaign, using the NFL as a spokesman, is probably least on the chain of dumb things government money is spent on. Here's an idea, Google "Dumb things government money is spent on" , then come back and tell me how much of a waste a recruitment campaign using the NFL is. Forest through the trees. Falcons will no longer accept military funds

The Falcons no longer will accept payment from military branches for advertising or any other deals, team owner Arthur Blank said.

Blank is taking that position after his team and many pro sports franchises drew sharp criticism from Congress and others last year for their marketing contracts with the military, some of which included paid tributes to troops at games.

The crackdowns don’t ban advertising, such as on video boards and in game programs, or other marketing activation at stadiums for recruitment purposes. But Blank said the Falcons will steer clear of compensation for even permitted deals in the future.

“We don’t even want to be in that discussion,” Blank said. “We don’t want any confusion about it. … We’re not going to accept any more monies under any contracts.”

I as a fan.....accept that pic! I'm dying in my dreams right now. Holy shix!!!!

It's part of their advertising/recruiting fund. If it's bothers you so much scrap the volunteer military system and require every citizen serve. I bet a lot of people would change their tune then.

Or better yet, if it bothers people so much, how about we send soldiers to everyone's house and force all first born sons and daughter into immediate military service! That'll teach people to have an opinion! This is Murica. Either you comply with everything the military does, without question, or geeiit out!

Isn't this practically Selective Service?

Just because it isn't in your face, doesn't mean it isn't there.
