Offensive Line Coach Of The Year

Winner: Chris Morgan, Atlanta Falcons

Atlantas O-line turnaround was astonishing; the Falcons went from our 26th ranked unit in 2014 to fourth this year, without spending ridiculously in free agency or making a splash in the draft. Regardless of cost, three new players had to be integrated, and that is a difficult task in itself. In the end, both tackles improved markedly over their previous season, and both new guards meshed well, too.

Dear Lord, that's insane. There's no way this unit was top 5 this year, that's just not true.

Freeman had some big games rushing the ball in Late September and October, but his production came back down to earth after that.

The Falcons were not a great rushing team in 2015, despite Freeman's good year.

18th in total rushing yards

25th in yards per rushing attempt

12th in rushing TDs

I question the grading. It clearly gave a lot of weight for pass and rush yards. Our offense produced yards between the twenties. But a lot of those rush yards came from Freeman running stretch plays, not up the middle blocking. A lot of Pass yards were short and quick dump offs that had YAC, not seven step drop pass pockets.

Proof stats can mislead your eyes. We need interior help or Ryan has no place pocket to throw deep to Julio or anyone else.

I sort of didn't believe it either. I thought this had to be based on the improvement in the running game. Looks like Ryan was sacked 32 times this year, 25th in the league. It sure seemed like more. Ryan was 18th in QB hits. So it seems the line did better than I thought. I'm sure this doesn't take Person's bad snaps into account. Not sure how we end up 4th best either.

He deserves a lot of credit. Not going to start finding ways to discredit our throw together unit. He made it work and with a new C or C & G, We have a nice base to work with.

I'll give you that...but that's like me making Hamburger Helper at 9:00 PM as a quick dinner, and calling it the 4th best dinner I ever ate...

Defense was ranked middle of the pack, OL was ranked #4. We have a pro bowl RB and pro bowl receiver. The Ryan apologists are down to their final excuse, "He was learning the scheme". Please don't shoot that one down or half the boards will be on suicide watch. If Ryan doesn't learn the scheme by 2020, I think we may need to change OCs again, right?
