Can You See Oklahoma Olb Eric Striker Translating To Ss?

Eric Striker, Oklahoma Sooner OLB is projected as a 3-4 round linebacker prospect. He's a smaller linebacker (6'1 220) and truly shines in open space, where most of his plays are made. Super twitchy athlete with a quick first step. He drew a lot of holding penalties beating guys around the corner as a pass rusher. Scouts worry about his size at the next level as a linebacker and don't think he's a scheme fit for a lot of defenses. Much like USC OLB Su'a Cravens, I feel Striker translates much better as a SS in the NFL with his natural skill set being running around in space.

Dan Quinn loves a big safety who isn't afraid to come up and make big hits in the run game, Eric Striker has the potential to be coached up and be that sideline to sideline athlete we need roaming the field on big third downs. Does anyone else see him translating excellently as a SS in the NFL? So much value in the 3rd and 4th round with this guy.

Nice find bro.

Am I crazy or do you think Leonard Floyd from Georgia could do the same? 6'4 220lbs

Can't see that with Leonard Floyd, he's a linebacker. He isn't 220 more like 235 and has the frame to add an additional 10-15 pounds pretty quickly. He's wiry, but can easily fill out where as Striker doesn't have that kind of frame.

I agree he has the frame to add more weight and Georgia has him listen at 220 which is why I said that but something inside me said it'd be cool to see him at SS. Haha

Anythings possible, but that is a tough conversion. He will likely find a home as a 4-3 wlb in the nfl.

I think it is much more common to move from SS to olb in the nfl. Wire, davis, barron have all done it well. I am sure there are others, as well as a few who went the other way.

Striker reminds me of the same kind of player as Khaseem Greene or Rennie Curran. Fortunately, I think he's more suited for today's game than those two players, but not by much. The difference between Cravens and Striker is Cravens is a SS playing LB. Striker is a LB that they used to rush the passer more than anything.

We'll see. I'm not confident there is a place in the NFL for Striker.
