Flying Falcon
Was Quinn the real reason for their defensive success? The commentator hit on it during the game. He said that the previous defensive coordinator (before Quinn) took a HC gig with another team. And that left Quinn to be promoted to DC. Then Quinn took the Falcons HC gig and that left Kris Richard. And their defense is STILL boss. Well, that leaves me to believe that Quinn didn't have much to do with their defensive success as most believe. Maybe it IS Carroll that orchestrates it along with finding the talent to fit. Maybe Quinn was a puppet like Kris Richard.
Francis York Morgan
Did you not watch our defense at all this year? Lol.They've already improved drastically, no thanks to our sputtering, turnover prone offense, led by its equally turnover prone QB and Center.Of course Carroll is the main reason for their success, but they actually regressed a bit this year. Quinn is a brilliant mind in his own right.

They STILL misses tackles, takes bad angles, over pursues, etc.... Let's just see what talent Quinn brings in, but after seeing him sign Brooks Reed and Jalen Collins, I have to be honest (like Future). I'm a bit worried. Shnikies
We went from the 32nd ranked defense to 16th. With the players on this defense and still without a pass rush I'd say that's a **** good job. Edited January 11, 2016 by Shnikies

But like I said if were getting techincal here that is a slight hit lmao. What's far more impressive is how insane all of our stats went up from last year to this year. We jumped to middle of the pack in Total yards, pass yards, rush yards and points allowed where the last 2 seasons we have been bottom 5 in every category. PHALCONABERNATHY
I said in a different thread maybe not having but 5 draft picks is a good thing. We dip into free agency and try to get some help on d and o line depending on who's out there. That being said, you can't just say well Quinn sucks and isn't going to do anything because you could've coached the Seahawks defense. Quinn is a great defensive coach and whether you want to say it or not, he did improve the defense. The front seven is what needs to be fixed. We all know it and they do too. Give the man at least a season to work it out. If you want to blame someone, blame Shanahan and the offense for keeping them on the field for 3 full quarters a game. Flying Falcon
Here are their yearly stats starting at 2010 when Carroll got there:http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2010.htm(Gus Bradley) (ranked 25th on defense) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2011.htm(Gus Bradley) (ranked 7th on defense) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2012.htm(Gus Bradley) (ranked 1st on defense) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2013.htm(Dan Quinn) (ranked 1st on defense) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2014.htm(Dan Quinn) (ranked 1st on defense) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sea/2015.htm(Kris Richard) (ranked 1st on defense)You make the call. Looks like Carroll may have improved the defense. Either him or Bradley and the others kept it going after Bradley left. Like I said, Quinn wasn't the reason for their defense improving. etherdome
Flying Falcon, Pete Carroll is the architect of their defense. The DC's under him learned and moved on. We got one of those guys and he seems to have already positively impacted our defense. Quinn has learned under Saban and Carroll. He moved up the ranks the old-fasioned way, he earned it. Quinn deserved a shot at a HC job and I am glad he is here.

With the players on this defense and still without a pass rush I'd say that's a **** good job.Jumped 16 spots to a middling defense with much of the same personnel, but Quinn is a product of Seattle's talent...smhThis guy just continues to obsess over our current coaching staff for no good reason. If it's not Kyle, it's Quinn.Who's next? The RB coach because of Coleman's fumbles?

Quinn is a brilliant mind in his own right. No Seattle Defense did not regress. They have given about 25 more yards than they did last year. Their run D is same this year as well. They have given up on an average about 2 points more than last year. That is not in any stretch a regress. They have more or less stayed the same. I don't think Quinn was a major factor in their D. But I do agree, Quinn with the same players on Falcon's have improved. But it might also be due the fact that we had a very weak schedule. I'm a bit worried. You do realize it took 4 years for the Seattle defense to become dominant.Carroll's first 2 years in Seattle they went 7-9 each year. In his third year they went 11 - 5 and lost to us in the playoffs. 4th year is when they finally broke through and won the Super Bowl. Coincidentally that was Quinn's first year as DC, his 2nd year as DC they lost on the final play of the SB.It took time to purge the roster and bring in the players needed to run their scheme. Check the defensive stats for the 3 years before Dan Quinn and the 1 year after and you will find that Quinn's 2 years as DC were far superior. Club212
Last year we run a 1 LB defense, not hard to improve from that, the proof will be in the pudding as looking at next years schedule...we're staring down a 5-7 game win season, can't wait for the excuses...I give Quinn 2 more years here...its not all on him, its TD & the owner that listens to the wrong people! We're like the NFC Clevelanders
montanaman71
I am not jumping on the defense has greatly improved train just yet. The falcons were fortunate enough to play some pretty bad qbs/teams this year. The eye test shows they are better but not leaps in bounds better. I do believe with some more talent Quinn can turn it around though.
