Xfactor
I think a lot of us got overly excited being long time Falcon fans landing the DC from a Super Bowl winning franchise. We all know Smith's accomplishments here, and while I respect him, listening to Quinn sounded like the second coming compared to the nauseating press conferences and the dreadful locker room speeches we saw on national TV that was like taking Ambien. So here we are just finishing an 8-8 campaign under our new HC losing to Tampa Bay and New Orleans twice. The only saving grace for me was beating Carolina and ending their undefeated season. He does seem a little vanilla and to even keel for me lol. I wanted him to be pissed at the podium after a loss but I'm more a Tomlin type guy so that's not fair to Dan but do you have to be so **** nice. Show some fire, show some emotion cmon get pissed. Again on the sidelines meh very vanilla no major snafus but didn't seem to be trying to outsmart the opponent but more going by a script. He reminded me of Rivera in his rookie year I don't believe he moved from his spot the entire game looking like a statue with no emotion. Now you see a totally different coach and totally different results. I'm hope Quinn will follow the same path.At the beginning I hung on every word and wanted to learn who this guy named Quinn was and listened to every press conference. Like Smith and process a new word emerged from Quinn FINISH. Finally we are going to close out games no more down to the wire crap or making a mistake that will cost us the game on a regular basis but that didn't happen WHY WHY wise one from the great Northwest Easy answer TALENT combined with a new scheme. I predicted 7-9 because all you had to do was look at the roster so I'm good with 8-8 in his first year. For me Quinn is going to show who he really is during this off season with FA and the draft. It's his team now and with the final say concerning the roster let's see what you got Dan Quinn.
Falc_Fan_Since_Six
I like Quinn but the man is no miracle worker and considering all the holes on both sides of the ball, I'd say our record is about what it should be.

Still needs to work on our pass rush and interior OL though. He did say in his press conference that the trenches will be his point of emphasis. What you just described was Mike Smith. Quinn often times is shown yelling, clapping, and overall trying to motivate his players. I would see him cheer his players on and celebrate almost Rex Ryan like whenever his defense made a key stop. Quinn is pretty high energy. Just because he's fake in press conferences doesn't mean he doesn't have a huge voice in the locker rooms. Jim Harbaugh is one of the most ridiculous people I've ever seen on the podium. But that guy's voice was definitely heard in his locker room. Edited January 5, 2016 by JD dirtybird21

A-TowN.-
I LOVE that he pointed that out.I agree. I expect some big changes to the interior OL, and almost every defensive line position. He has an eye for defensive line talent so I am excited to see what he can do.

If you came into the Falcons last year and NOT known the trenches were a major issue then you are blind. It was already a point of emphasis.Quinn's 1st year is in the books and the results speak for themselves.Overall defense was better but we got worse in the sack department.Yards were better for the offense but that's ranking wise. Yards per game actually decreased from 378.2 to 374.4. Points were way down and turnovers were waaay up. So the defense improved while the offense got worse.Next year is going to be critical for Quinn but with the way the schedule looks it's very possible we could be much worse. A Dog Named Brian
And to set the reminder for the umpteenth time that Quinn's system puts an emphasis on pressure (not sacks). Also, don't forget to spay and neuter your pets

I saw him cheering and clapping on the sidelines sometimes when he should've been chewing someone *** out. When Levitre cost us a game tying FG against the Saints by flipping someone off and walked to the bench and not one coach approached him said a lot Quinn should have grabbed his *** as soon as he stepped off the field. Can't do it all in one off-season man. Let the coach do his thing and build his team
HOYLE
He has a clear plan in his mind and part of it got installed this year.Big themes: fast and physical, the ball and the finish. Some of the fast and physical part caused the lack of finish and loss of the ball.Freeman's fumble was at the end of an over the top effort play. He had nothing andscrounged out 3 yds.Coleman had 3 fumbles 2 were getting his pocket picked at the end of long runswhere he lost attention trying to break free.Julio had his pocket picked from behind at least once. The center snaps were caused by trying to get out too fast.So he needs another catch phrase for penalties, mental errors, etcHe could call it "Mike Smith's Notebook". When Levitre cost us a game tying FG against the Saints by flipping someone off and walked to the bench and not one coach approached him said a lot Quinn should have grabbed his *** as soon as he stepped off the field.I agree with that 100%. The biggest question about Quinn is how much is he willing to change himself and grow as a coach. Based on his personality, he seems like a guy who listens and takes constructive feedback. He doesn't strike me as a cocky jerk coach who isn't approachable. Let's not forget that he is a rookie head coach. There will be growing pains for him just as much there was for the players this year

That's **** impressive.Yeah he made our guys look way better by implementing a simplistic scheme, and he also coached them up very well. He took Smitty's players and made them play way better than they did in years past. Granted, you can only coach up these guys so much (players like Worrilow have hit their ceiling). I'm excited for the future.
PeytonMannings Forehead
It still amazes me how fans still continue to hold onto the myth of judging a coach by how much emotion he shows on the sideline or at the podium. All of that mess is strictly entertainment. I'd rather have a coach who was about his business and knew his craft. Unfortunately a lot of fans aren't into the intricacies of football and they don't fully understand what a coach does, so they somehow get the notion that bringing a bag of emotional theatrics is what gets a team over. That couldn't be farther from the truth. I don't think Bill Belichick ever gave a great press conference in his life. Conversely, Herman Edwards used to be the master of the press conference soundbyte. Oh, and Ron Rivera isn't a different coach. He's not doing anything now that he didn't do when he first got to Carolina.

I like the alternative that Quinn prescribes, "Constant Competition". Let's just give someone else a shot at his job.And in the words of office space, "let the problem work itself out". AtlantaFanatic
I feel like this offseason is how we should judge Quinn. This year he found out what he had on the football field. He learned we don't have a competent center, our linebacker play is subpar, and we need even more pass rush help. Let's see how he addresses those needs. I think we're finally one splash piece away from finishing our line. Which is absolutely amazing. It's only been two years. I like that Quinn is building this team from the inside. Biggest problem we had with the last few smith years. One more pass rusher and a couple of Lbs and we will be set.

Then they decided to go cheap and SURPRISE

atljbo
I like Quinn a lot .. I think our D improved allot with out the parts to fit what he wants to do ... We went from at the bottom of the league to around average .... What hurt us the most is the offensive struggles but regardless we don't have the talent this year to completely compete .. We can make major strides this off season ... Matt and shanny need to sit down and figure out a offense that fits us... And Matt has to learn from this down year then move on

I wouldn't mind looking at a safety but I can live with what we have. Kroy has been a whipping boy on this board for years, but I really liked what he contributed to this team this year. I'm not a fan of him in coverage, he did everything else exceptionally well. Also was very pleased with Babineaux as well. I think Beasley, Hageman, Jarrett, and Mbu are a good crop of young defenders who will only get better under Quinn. Quinn has a plan and it'll be exciting to see what he can do once he get his guys and fully implements his mark on this team.

Everything from the sports science side of it, to even studying the way weather patterns and the position of the sun would change during the game, thus potentially affecting strategic decisions. And I could have sworn Levitre's penalty was unnecessary roughness, not unsportsmanlike conduct.
