Expect To See A Column About Many Of Our Young Players Starting To Flash

I expect The Falcoholic or some other reporter will do a column on our young players who are either playing extremely well already as well as the ones just starting to shine or flash.

Hageman, Beasley, Jake Mathews, Ryan Shreader, Freeman, Jarrett, Ricardo Allen, Trufant, Alford, Stupar, Hardy is just now understanding this complex offense and I think he's going to be extremely productive starting next year. We haven't even seen what the super explosive Coleman will do next year or our very talented but raw CB who should be ready to go next year.

We have a second tier of guys who coaches are really excited about including OG Ben Garland, DT Joey Mbu, Tyler Starr and so forth as well.

Don't tell me we don't have any talent. We have talent or we never would have beaten the Panthers. We have a very young defense that held Carolina (#2 in NFL in points scored over 30 ppg) to just 13 points. We just have some holes to plug up. Keep in mind every team has holes to plug up

That wasn't a very impressive list.

Still don't have all the talent to fit this scheme. We're streaky and have a lot of heart. Give it another year to get some more quality players Quinn wants and then we'll talk talent. As of now? Nah. This team has some extremely talented players and a ton that are incredibly untalented.

funny how before this game you were adamant that if Ryan doesn't play with no mistakes we still wouldn't win the game with drops and other players messing up but what do you know...Ryan is crushed plenty of times, showed some moxie, hung in there and made big plays while receivers dropped balls and center snapped balls errant like and we somehow still got the W

please explain Gaz

The win against the Panthers was more about heart, grit, execution, attitude, etc than it was about talent. And according to Julio, DQ and the rest of the coaches did a dam good job at getting them prepared for the game.

We need an infusion of talent in the front seven, interior o-line, WR, TE and safety. We have a few good young players but we are still have holes on this team. The coaches even admitted we lack talent.

Desmond Trufannt and Alford...all should have gotten more patience from fans/media.

There are some good talented players on the team that have already proven themselves. Beasley has had a good rookie season. Freeman has had a great second season. Hageman has had a good second season. Collins hasnt been great, but has been serviceable stepping in when Alford was out and being one of the four CBs (along with Adams) to get lots of PT.

Coleman, unfortunately, is not one of them. His greatest publciized strength - speed - has not been on display. A bad handle on the field and poor judgment off the field have been evident. 3rd round picks have been a significant problem for Dmitroff.

It's really incredible watching some fans continue to insist we have to talent on the roster. Do we have some holes? Of course, what team doesn't? To point to holes does not negate the fact that we have quite a bit of youthful talent.

Yesterday and to a lesser extent the week before, everything started coming together, everything started gelling and many of the young players stepped up and flashed their talent and showed us all what this team is capable of.

We beat the best team in the NFL yesterday and flashed our true potential. I disagree with those who dismiss this game as an outlier, many of us have been saying all along once we cleNed up the majority of the mistakes, gelled in the schemes and the coaching tightened up things we had the talent to beat anyone.

Fact is, we can chalk up most of our losses this year on beating ourselves with mistakes/gelling far more than anothe team just beating us.

We have the talent, we have a lot of young very talented players just started to show you what they have not that they understand their assignments.........of course we still need some pieces, of course we still have holes, all teams have holes. We have a couple of gaping holes, but they will get filled this offseason as we purge some high priced vets left over from previous schemes that don't fit scheme and restock with another world class draft.

1st 2nd and 3rd year players came up big this game/all season....don't get it twisted.

We needed MR to deliver today...all season long. I can't begrudge TD this year...Pioli or the HC/OC/DC.

MR left this team hanging...the Carolina win speaks volumes.

I agree with you Matty Ice is one very special QB. Him getting crushed never once stopped him so not sure what your point is. The only thing that ever even slowed him down was having him and his spent ire offensive roster trying to learn a highly complex offensive scheme while his new offensive coordinator was still adjusting to have a QB that talented.

This win was a combination of **mitigating** mistakes (how many 1st and 20's , holding calls, personal fouls, blown tackles, blocked punts, blown assignments, fumbles, lazy and incorrect route running, terrible play calling, failure to game plan properly, etc did we see yesterday?) the coaching staff stepping up and doing their jobs made a tremendous difference and Shanny finally started getting our secondary receivers plays called so he stepped up. Yes, we made mistakes, but we didn't play a sloppy game which was always my point.

Then, as icing on the cake, the youth of this team stepped up and played balls out. The budding talent from a host of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players made the difference as the other facets largely cleaned up their acts.

I'm one of those fans that believes if MR plays consistently like he did at home against Carolina...no worries.

Its easier to build a team around that MR.

Everyone stepped up yesterday. We don't beat Carolina of everyone doesn't step up including the coaching staff. Yesterday shows our true potential, the youth on this roster showed you they can be difference makers.

For instance, Carolina is second in the NFL in points scored over 30 points per game. Our defense held them to 13. Our defense stepped up huge yesterday, huge.

I think you're way too soon on Coleman.

Truth be told he's Average 4.5 yards per carry. Plain and simple he gets rid of the fumbles and he becomes a great change of pace back.

He gets better.....a lot better.....at catching the ball and he becomes 1B to Freeman's 1A.

No question about that.

MR's step up was immense and it didn't have anything to do with OC/HC/DC personnel...the win was about MR handling pressure. He did that...handle pressure.

I think a lot of it had to do with Shanny FINALLY calling pass plays to secondary receivers. Even Dave Archer said one of the reasons for so many picks was that Shanny was calling all the plays to JJ and if he wasn't open there was no second alternative and Matt would get crushed. Now, Shanny started calling plays to Roddy and Hardy in addition to JJ which is what sooooooo many of us kept insisting he do and it allowed Ice Man to play as he is capable of.

I can't believe there's been no chatter about our young defense. We held the second highest scoring offense in the NFL to only 13 points and we stopped them several times on 3rd downs.

This is a huge youth movement on defense and we saw the young, budding talent flash bigtime yesterday. Can you imagine these guys with a couple more key pieces and another training camp?

We have a lot of young talent on defense and this is something we all should be very excited about.

Shanny didn't call those plays to secondary receivers...Ryan created those plays.

Ryan responded to pressure unlike he has done all year...that td to JJ

Check down MR grew up...at least for 1 game.

There has been and many have defended them from undue criticism...all season long.

This years team should have made the p/o or a least had it in their hands going into the last game.

Anyone with sense has been waiting on this version of MR.

This reality does not exist in the minds of some unnamed folks on TATF.
