cehoward13
Let me start off by saying that this posting is not about how Ishmael should be the starter. He is a good backup and fill-in starter. That's the extent of his role. This is mostly about his play in yesterday's Jags game, most noticeably the interception at the goal line. He's always had pretty good instincts "in the box", within that 5 - 20 yard range and is around the ball frequently (except when it's going over his head deep! He truly jumped on that route and showed great instincts but I think mostly it was his familiarity to Bortles's tendacies. After all he did play against Bortles at practice everyday for the two years that they were at UCF together. We all know he is deficient in speed (I mean he did get run down by Bortles after the INT - albeit Bortles is a decent athlete and did have some good runs yesterday). Still not sure why Durant didn't lay him out. All in all I think Ishmael had a pretty good game (didn't get burnt really)and made a play here and there. Knew some posters on the board would overlook the good play by Ishmael only to talk about him being run down by Bortles. Never please some people on here.. All in all I'm glad that Atlanta got off the snide and won a game that they should of. I went to the Tampa game three weeks ago and think that was one of the games I left most disappointed. We should have won that game but the 3rd and a mile play that we let Winston play Tecmo Bowl with our Defense was pathetic. We didn't deserve to win at that point. Mid-Nite-Toker
Ish int was huge, no don't about it.He has proven to be a playmaker. I'm over Willy Mo, but not sure Ish is the long term answer either (starter).I do think Ish has a place on this team going forward.
Clark Kent™
I predicted Ish would make a big play for us in my game predictions thread. Ish is always making plays when he is out there. Granted, his coverage needs some work. I am comfortable having him out there though.
AllStarHandyMan
If you look at the play over again it looks like Jax was telling people it was coming.. We get beat by that play a lot in the red zone that close. But good jump on the ball
mtldirtybird
he always read the play well, sucks hes just not the best athlete. On the INT I was praying it was Collins and not Ismael cuz i knew he couldnt take it to the house lol

capologist
Ish as an in the box strong safety, has a shot to be more than a backup as he's shown he's not afraid to tackle and as you mentioned has good ball instincts. Only question is how consistent can he be?
rcky_mtn_falcon
I'm really hoping we cut ties with Willy Mo and find a way to draft Jayron Kearse to replace him.
blackredfellow
If only Durant had the balls to make a ******* block instead of that pathetic *** hand slappingIsh also could have cut back across the field and just outran Bortles to the endzone. Jesus
To be fair if Durant had hit Bortles he probably would have gotten hurt
AndySG
He's not the answer and I'm hoping that we draft a starting SS, but he's been better than Moore since we drafted him.
raysnill1
Ish could be a great SS but he's just too slow. that's pretty much the only knock I got against him

I don't understand why Durant isn't getting more grief over this on the board. Pathetic.

rcky_mtn_falcon
Su'a Cravens = Willy Mo w/ Better Coverage skills: I like Cravens too, but think he might end up at OLB in the NFL. I'd be happy to have him on the team though. We need LB's pretty bad as well.
Jesus
Ish and the D had just been marched down the field to the goal line. Then he had to run a pick all the way back 100 yards at the end of the half?People get tired.
Rise
Ishmael is good in zones, and reading QBs eyes...That said, I think Quinn makes a play for The Seahawks SS, or he hopes to find someone with more speed an range... His SS will have to cover the opposing teams best TE alone most times... while in the box...or near it.IShmael may work better in a Tampa 2 type scheme...There aren't any major SS in the draft..The next 2 games against TEs Olsen and Watson will be big. They keep IShmael, but groom KIng to move from CB/FS to SS in the future, or a mid rounder (After Quinn drafts another CB). Rise
....a 4.93Ish is just slow. pretty good instincts and i dont have anything against him, but he slowReally? That's all I heard and read from some legitimate draft experts..."This guy can run faster than 'Big Ben'....He's a much faster 'Big Ben'!" is what I heard and read before he was drafted...Hmmmmm...(NFL Network and ESPN)He took a good angle, and he is tough...Ishmael slowed-down for the cut-back, and the LB did not want a penalty for blocking-in-the-back... He did run into Bortles's angle pursuit... Sometimes, its best to run straight.
