since68andcounting
Of all the problems Shanahan has, the biggest is most certainly the fact that he tries to outsmart himself too often.
lehshead
Yes indeed. Most on these boards knew that up tempo & audibles were the answer however that makes Shanahan share control of the offense...and we can't do that.
FalconFanSince1969
This myth that Ryan wasn't calling audibles is pretty funny.
since68andcounting
This myth that Ryan wasn't calling audibles is pretty funny. He was calling some previously, but they were more limited. Like a 2nd pre-planned play option. Today it's very clear he's calling entire plays at the LOS. Moving formations, the whole works. The 2nd scoring drive was a thing of beauty, and I gotta give Shanny credit for the TD call. Perfect red zone play design.
since68andcounting
Didn't work vs Carolina. Not much works against Carolina as 13 teams can attest to.

Sidecar Falcon
Overall it hasn't worked. The offense has no weapons outside of Julio. The ZBS is very friendly for backs so I'm not sold on Freeman yet. That's perfectly fine with me. I'd rather have our running game be a weapon rather than just Freeman. since68andcounting
Umm, what? You could hear him checking off earlier in the season, but I don't recall instances where it was clear he called a play from scratch at the LOS like he's done today a couple times. There might have been a few "prescribed" check offs, but it looked very limited. More restrictive.

since68andcounting
Clinton Portis averages 5 ypc in Denver.. Was traded to the Skins and barely averaged 4 ypc under Gibbs power running scheme.ZBS is a friendly scheme for backs. Plug any decent back and he will eat. That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact Freeman is running with great vision, acceleration, and power for a man his size.Oh and he can run routes, catch, and block too.Man...some people. obmann
Yes gameplan was better, but the opponent was easy. Jags are still top bottom team. AFC South is a broken division like NFC East. And which divisions played the falcons?
