Here Is The Real Reason For This Year's Decline After 5 Wins .....

Problem = It's this simple,,, we spent all our money on D# in free-agency, And did not fix the OL, We now have a pretty good D# with a sorry OL that does not allow Ryan to play out each snap. He don't have time too. WE must this coming off season spend all our F,A. money on getting a Pro OL. If we do that, we will have a great team next year. And if we don't ,, look for the same results. The other problem in my opinion is some of the new plays Shanny has installed are just to close in, too tight if you will. I know we need to go back to stretching the field and using more of the plays we won with in the passing game before Shanny got here.. If he is not willing to eat crow and adjust and admit his mistakes and problems, He should be replaced.

Answer = WE must spend all our FA money on getting a complete overhaul on the OL other than our LT , And hit on another great Draft.. We need to get our OL in FAcy in order to have experienced Vets, And get everything else we need in the draft. It's ok if we draft an OL with our first rd pick , but we don't need to depend on that to fix this OL , I'd say ours is the worst one in the league. Can't win without a good OL. The other problem is that Shanny needs to stick to the quick High percentage passing plays and not use those plays that takes a lot of time to set up before the throw. Personally , I'd like for us to replace Shanny this off season.. I just don't agree with his philosophy, To be honest, I wish we could have kept our old O# system and just added the running game we now have .

Result = There is no doubt in my mind if we had the OL we needed this year, we would have made the playoffs and done well.

Have to wonder how close to being a great team everyone in the NFC South is this year. Last year our division played the AFC North and NFC North. We all still have those bruises. 3 teams from the AFC North and 2 from the NFC North made the playoffs. Ouch. Soft schedules for everyone this year facing the NFC Least and AFC South. Next year has the AFC West and NFC West on tap. I think a couple NFC South teams will have even worse W-L records next year.

Too bad we didn't spend money on a FA last offseason.....

Oh wait we did and Shanahan benched him and then put him on season ending IR with a 'hip injury.'

Shanahan and Quinn wanted to go cheap in the oline... Well they wanted cheap and they got cheap.

I have serious doubts about Shanahan's and Quinns personnel acumen.

The real reason for the decline is that we have very little talent and very little testicular

fortitude. We used up the entire seasons worth of luck to get us to 5-0 during the first 5 weeks. We never were anything else other than a 6-10 or 7-9 type team even when we faced one of the weakest schedules in the league.

We're a terrible team.... deal with it. We've got Julio, Freeman, Trufant, and a marginal QB playing in a system he doesn't like. Other than that... ours is a roster full of NFL backup caliber players at best.

Our linebackers are slow, and we don't play exceptionally bright.

The real problem is we were built by Dimi. It showed up the last three years. That 5-0 start was a mirage. It very well could have been 1-4 putting us at 2-11.

Draftnut you always want to fix everything with great drafts. We need great drafts, great free agent signings, a couple trades, good cuts and smart contracts.

Things a GM is responsible for.

We still have other holes besides the oline. The thing that ticks me off is we've been sitting on a ton of cap space for a couple of years and never bother to spend it. That's on Gel boy.

We always seem to have adequate cap space to get a higher-level FA, but yet we still always, always go for the duds, the always-injured, the way-over-the-hill vets with nothing left. Always cheap one-year contracts because the player knows and TD knows they aren't worth a longer term deal. Over and over and over again. Oh, except for the duds TD signs to multi-year deals like Dunta, Edwards, Jackson, etc..

In a nutshell, yes. Matt is a top 10 Qb but clearly this POS OL and scheme are hampering him.

The real reason for the decline is the constant shifting of priorities and philosophies.

We have switched from the infamous "Amoeba" defense to the Seattle-LEO defense. We can acquire a LEO pass rusher in free agency and continue to draft good, young defensive talent that fit the 'fast and physical" profile.

We have gone from ZBS to man blocking and now back to ZBS. We need to stick with the ZBS and acquire a free agent Center. By adding a good Center, Levitre will be given the correct call and actually block the guy he is supposed to. Keeping Asamoah at RG would also represent an upgrade. The draft can be used to find a good backup OL.

To be honest, this team is not far from play off success. Seriously, simply sticking with one vision will help our new GM draft good football players.

EXAMPLE

Free Agents:

Center--Steven Wisniewski--Experienced Center with good fundamentals and know-how.

LEO pass rusher--Vernon, Curry or Irvin. Take your pick. Let's start scaring QB's.

Safety--Iloka. I prefer an experienced SS playing next to Ricardo Allen.

Draft:

1. A'Shawn Robinson (DT)--a foundation player. Pair him with Jarrett and you have an interior tandem that can collapse the pocket, on a regular basis, for the next five seasons.

2. Deion Jones (OLB)--a very athletic LB who is smart and covers very well.

3. Evan Engram (TE/WR)--He is listed as a TE, but he looks like a WR. He is an Aaron Hernandez-type of TE. Do you think Matt might like a guy like him on crossing routes?

4. Casanova McKinzy (MLB)--A very good run stopper with the speed and agility to drop into coverage.

7. Noah Spence (LEO)--We need to loosen our Falcon filter a bit. He has talent to develop. We want pass rushers.......not nice boys.
