Miller2Rison
I know yall will answer this with "they have a winning tradition" but I was just looking at Raiders fans, Browns fans etc. Those guys stick with their teams W,L, or draw. The Raiders have sucked since 2002 and the black hole still sells out, as with the dog pound in Cleveland. Now the old time Falcon fans are used to this but we always see to have a bandwagon every year. I remember going to HOME games as a kid and saying "I hope there is some falcon fans here" saw Manning his rookie year, the dome looked like Neyland stadium. I mean, fake crowd noise for god sake lol.
Godzilla1985
Yay another " even other fanbase is better than us because I heard they ALWAYS sell out their stadium" thread.
4dabirds
The Raiders do have a tradition of winning, not to mention it is about the tailgating and overall game day experience that gets passed down from generation to generation. Cleveland probably has a great tradition of tailgating as well. I've tailgated at Falcons games many times, but it is nothing like Giants game that I went to many years ago. The environment is just different. Falcons fans have a different mentality that evolved from watching a third tier team meander along for it's first decade of play, got good enough to attract some new fans, then fell back in the toilet and regressed back to embarrassing play for 9 years, then got okay but still did show any real signs of turning the corner, then back in the crapper. This sort of thing has continued the entire time. It's hard to associate yourself with it after awhile. You find better things to do for entertainment and you do that. That's my take on it. jb 3.0
Saints fans tell me Falcon fans aren't very smart. There's only a few here that would make anyone believe different. Starting with their ridiculous defense of what could possibly be the worst team owner in the entire league. $45000.00 PSL anyone?

That's my take on it.That's a very good point, tailgating at Falcons games is always fun and I haven't been to a game in ATL since the Vick days (BC I live in TX now) but I do know its SEC country around that whole area and tailgating at Vols games is a lot funner than Falcons games. Of course its a town square of partying college kids. Now back in the Vick days was the best tailgating ever in Atlanta and I know it had a lot to do with Vick but also at the time Blank had great sales going on and from what I have heard Blank has this PSL bs going on and this and that, Is he turning into Jerry Jones? HEIST
the panthers game is gonna be awful lol. atl doesn't seem like the type of place that can handle a huge losing streak, especially with an undefeated team right down the road. Door Gunner
The thing I see the most is that the fans are so divided and have no identity. That and the cost of going to a ball game now a days is just stupid once you add it all up. Edited December 19, 2015 by Door Gunner
NZFalcon
Yip its the fans fault for not wanting to go to the game to watch this garbage. Make something in the stadium worth going to it either winning some sort of gimmicky thing like the towels the black hole dawg pound or a chant etc anything as long as its natural not a forced upon us rise up. at the moment its go to a stadium thats closing that you wont be able to afford a PSL for the new one and sit in silence and watch the home team lose. An entire history of nothing will kill a fanbase
DaSteeleboy
From the sounds of it all of Atlanta's fan bases, be it Falcons, Hawks, Braves, are not loyal to their club or they just suck at being fans. But the main reason why Atlanta has bad fans or not very many at all is because all of the teams are a joke and have next to nothing to show for it. TeamPlayer1
Very many fans in Atlanta are transplants who have allegiance to their particular hometown team. They will move on in a couple of years for a better company position in a new city. How many season ticket holders were born in the Atlanta area and are still here? I would love to know that percentage.
Miller2Rison
And like I said this ain't just something that happened over night, it was like this in the 80s and 90s too.

Also, they were a very well received relocated team in the early 1960s, so they have a tradition of winning that started early on.

I'm pointing out that the Cheifs and there fans have experienced a level of success that predates anything the Falcons have ever done. Chiefs fans haven't waited for 50 years for the team they love to do something notable. You say Falcons fans are fair weathered, I say they're sick and ******* tired of seeing more embarrassing efforts than they've seen good. Take it how you want though, because I don't give ****. putnam6
Falcons have had periods where attendance was good 77-83 one or two of the Glanville years 98 with Reeves the Vick years and the recent run. But when a franchise's first back to back winning seasons occurs 40+ years after it's inception, just not a lot going on to keep the casual fan motivated. This along with everything else already mentioned, SEC country, poor tailgating area, continuing influx of people from other areas, cost of attending, poor ownership initially from 66-99,not to mention the Vick Petrino debacle. Lots of stuff to do in the Atlanta area weather is nice till late in the year, you got the mountains to visit or can hit the beach in a weekend, not to mention hunting season etc. Also it's a very diverse population to boot with numerous segments that have just a passing interest in football or no interest at all. One reason the Falcons should have treated the long time STH like gold. #1 there wasn't that many to begin with #2 stories of them dropping long held seats doesn't exactly inspire people to buy more. That said who gives a chit if we aren't the "best fan base" LOL. It's not like they give out a trophy and we each get bonuses LOL. Could care a less what other cities think.I fully understand committing fully to supporting a college or high school team. But in the NFL how else does a fan base show it's displeasure except by keeping their wallet in their pocket. Especially when they get no pressure from the media

Barry Allen
You guys want to talk about diehard fans even though their team sucks? I live in buffalo and I know a few guys that would give their left nut for a bills win.
FalconJim
FALCONS ---- either you like 'em, or not ---- either you support your home team, or not. Who gives a flip about you "fair weather" fans? Myself, I'm a die-hard fan, and I will be 'til I die --- see, I'm a lifer, and I love my Falcons with a passion --- I'll continue to go to the games, watch 'em on TV and buy their merchandise. Why? Simply because I love NFL Football, and I'm grateful to have a team here in Atlanta!!! Now, if any of you don't like that ---- (keeping it clean) YOU CAN KISS MY GRITS!!! B_Lo_Touchdowns
Atlanta is a transplant city. People come here fans of other teams already. The fan base is growing rapidly but you wouldnt know it unless you were actually involved with the youth in Atlanta.
