iDash
What is wrong with the Atlanta Falcons? A look into the offense. by CunniMingusThe Guy spent a lot of time on it,so I thought some of you might want to see it!
blizzard_falcon
Thanks for posting this. There are also a lot of good breakdowns in the comments. One redditor points out that Shanahan has always racked up yards, but has historically been near the bottom of the league in red zone efficiency. Seems like this isn't the only place he has struggled to properly use his weapons inside the 20.
TifosiMW
That article sold me on the problem being Shanahan. Yeah Matt isn't himself, but I refuse to believe its all his fault after how good he's been for us. Something changed in that offense and its the OC. paulitik
Save RGIII's rookie season, Matt looks like garbage and is still out performing Shanahan's past offenses.

raysnill1
Save RGIII's rookie season, Matt looks like garbage and is still out performing Shanahan's past offenses. that's what gets me. sure Matt is sucking but his suckage is consistent with the way other QBs sucked in his system, down to the uncharacteristic turnovers. and someone brought out how Matt's footwork is all wrong which leads to bad throws and McNabb hinted to Kyle's scheme forcing him to try to adapt to their footwork as opposed to the footwork he had been trained to use for pretty much his entire career. Dirtybird56
We have Julio and nobody else. So basically once Julio is smothered we have nobody else who can get seperation. Pretty sad considering WR was a strength of this team not too long ago smh.Yep, although Hardy is going to be a stud for us in the future

Come on...do you not think it's strange to see them move down the field with ease and then come to a complete stop?
Sidecar Falcon
D@mn good write up. I think it was everyones hope that bringing in Shanahan would have improved the running game while maintaining our already potent passing game. This has not been the case as the mentality of forcing a "square peg in a round hole" shifted from running to passing. I truly hope that we keep the ZBS regardless if we keep Shanahan after this season.

Trouble
Shany is ****.If it wasn't for his name he probably wouldn't be in the NFL.Good post, thanks for sharing it.
IronHead34
Have we ever really been a great red zone team with Matt at the helm? I do recall a ton of field goals. Some of those come from having no run game as well. It is harder to be pass happy in the red zone. You shorten the field and suddenly there is a lot less room to spread out a defense and throw. Put in a run game and you have to keep a defense honest. The last three years (not this year) we have had no real run game. How many times did you see Sjack get stuffed on the one yard line? Or even old Turner for that matter. Drunken Minotaur Zebra
What is wrong with the Atlanta Falcons? A look into the offense. by CunniMingusThe Guy spent a lot of time on it,so I thought some of you might want to see it!TL;DR - Shanny is a QB killer who has a proven track record of starting hot, then faceplanting. He won't let Matt Ryan run the no huddle, and wants pretty much total control of the offense. The "offense" meaning: throw to Julio 100 times a game. Da_Truth
Enough said in this article in my mind. We have too much talent on this offense to not be putting up at least 21-28 points a game. Our OL is still a work in progress--when hasn't it been--but that never stopped our offense from moving the ball up and down the field before. If Shanacant doesn't show improvement to get this offense scoring and hitting multiple players to score, then send his egotistical, know-it-all azz packing. ONE MORE THING...this is Quinn's selection and he's the one responsible for ensuring Shanacant fixes the problems or letting him go.
RyanC
Is there a decent OC out there with ZBS? Unfortunate that Quinn had to hitch his job with this guy.
sdogg
But but Shannahan is awesome.. Ryan just became Mark Wohlers and just flat out sucks. PURPLE
bfields62
We have the history of the Quarterback, which for the most part says he's, at the least, a top 15 QB in the NFL.We have the history of the coordinator which shows run game success and a propensity for reports to come out about him either not getting along with the QB or refusing to acquiesce to their concerns.Only the narrative for one of these people has changed. The O.D.B
Um, Shanny didn't throw the pics. Even if the play call was garbage a good QB would've thrown the ball away or short to avoid the turnover. I'm not a Matt hater and I know he will turn it around but, the pics are on him all day and Shanny has no hand in it. Redzone efficiency may be on Shanny due to play calling. We've wasted a bunch of downs in the red-zone by running however, when your QB is giving away giftwrapped presents by the truck loads any rational OC would dail down the pass percentage to try and combat the turnovers. In doing this the problem compounds as the run plays fail and when you need your QB it's a high pressure 3rd down. Said it before, once Matt gets right the team will be right. vafalconfan
Good running game, zone blocking scheme works. Red Zone inefficiencies, hot start with a latter season swoon, criticisms of stubbornness and unprofessional-ism, and unwillingness to adjust scheme no matter the circumstances.Keep seeing similar comments as this pop up on a weekly basis..there has to be something to it.
