mc
http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/teamstats?teamId=1&category=receivingYards&season=2015Why would Ryan spread the ball for 7 years and now all of a sudden target one wr? The yds have been close every year, even when Roddy was the primary. Now Julio is so far above everyone else it isn't even close. Julio has been targeted way more than any other wr, something that Ryan has never done before. Only reason you get plays like Sunday's int is if Ryan is told if there is even a slim opening throw it to Julio. This is not normal at all for Ryan. It HEAVILY favors the #1 WR. No arguing that one. Just look at everywhere Shanahan's been.
Atlanta_Dawgs46
I understand that you need to design your plays to get the ball to your playmaker (#1 receivers). However, to go to him probably 75% of the time doesn't make sense at all.
SyCo
I'm pretty mad at myself. the other day I was working on a thread to show the target breakdown by percentages compared to last year. but someone knocked on the door and my two year old turned off the lap top. obviously there was a drastic drop off in targets to the number 2 and on receivers but the increase to julio wasn't mind blowing, though there was one. we have to consider we had no real te target last year, and our receiving corp was stronger, when you take account of the time they've spent together with ryan in that system. there was also an increase this year to te targets and rushing attempts. but targets to rbs were about even. even though all of them last year were split evenly beaten four backs while this year there almost all to freeman
mc
A qb doesn't change after 7 years. He has had 2 systems bedore this that didn't cause the huge turn over problems.

Dirtybird56
1) Shanny has always fed the X, especially when he's had a dominant one like julio (who actually can line up at any receiver position)2) Our other receiving talent is garbage. So sick of watching us go max protect with 7 off PA and have 2 WR's running routes and guess what? Julio is doubled like always, and the other receiver Roddy can't get open against man coverage to save his life. People wonder why does Ryan only throw to freaking double covered Julio or dump off to Freeman.. Well the reason above is a large part of it

Dirtybird56
I've seen Roddy running open on some plays.Yes I've seen the pics of Roddy running free when his man doesn't even pay attention to him and runs to help on Julio. I've seen Roddy open on underneath routes vs zone. But he rarely ever beats man coverage and the few times he has have been on crossing routes, one of the hardest to defend as a CB - and even then the seperation is always minimal and he never provides YAC. He broke his first tackle 2 weeks ago after not breaking a single tackle since 2013
The O.D.B
My eyeball says we've never been good a spreading the ball around beyond our top two threats. I've always envied how Breeze uses all his receivers and still gets the top guys their numbers. Every game I can remember when playing them the commentators always comment about how well Drew spreads the ball. This year we've done better is spurts but, other than that it's the top two again(JJ + Free)
Drunken Minotaur Zebra
Well if this is news to anyone then they need to start watching the games.Have you seen the idiots saying we should get rid of Matt Ryan around here? We have no shortage of people who don't get this, and a lot of other things.
Mega Flare
I heard a rumor today that Roddy told Matt that he "made him," and Matt responded by saying that he didn't need Roddy and would show him on the field. Never would have guessed that, but if true, that's eye-opening.
