Money Lee
Unfortunately, the Falcons fired Smith a season too late. If Ryan had Bruce Arians, this offense would easily be top 5. Cardinals should be thankful they got Arians.This...Arians is easily one of the top 5 coached in the NFL. Woulda been a nice fit in Atlanta. LiquidFalcon
Heres Matt Ryans thought process, Im going to throw to Julio, ok Julios covered Im going to throw it to him anyways. He has done this with Roddy and Tony and now Julio is his main target. He forces throws to his top choice constantly and has ALWAYS done this and still continues to do it. Mike Smith is gone so now most of use are going to go after Matt Ryan thats how it works.
FalconFanSince1970
Lovie Smith has been running defenses since 2001. What kind of defense has Lovie ran his entire career? Cover 2. We took a few shots, but very rarely did we throw is deep, especially after halftime. That's both on the OC and the QB. I'm not throwing Kyle under the bus in this thread. But, Matt threw the ball 45 times for 269 yards. That is a sub-6 YPA. That's too many passes and too short of throws. The Cover 2 defense, particularly Lovie's Tampa 2 style, begs offenses to dink and dunk until they get close to the red zone, and they clamp down using the back of the end zone as an extra defender. That's why we ended up with four straight drives ending in field goals. That's what Lovie wants. Field goals generally don't win games. We did take some shots. The problem is they were few and far between. We opened up throwing and backed the defense off a little bit. Then they started creeping up again. The Cover 2 defense is not that hard to beat. How many chances did we give Julio to beat Chris Conte? That's a two sided problem. Kyle called more deep shots this game but not enough. Even when they were called, Matt double clutched so often instead of letting it fly. If you are double clutching, that means you have time, so it's not "Matt's OL didn't give him time". He had typical, NFL time in the pocket. We have to give the few playmakers we have a chance to make plays. That's been the biggest issue with the offense. Even when Kyle calls it, it doesn't happen. There were so many plays checked down before the play even had a chance to develop. Matt did a better job of scanning the field this game. A much better job. But he's still timid. We have not scored more than 21 points in the last 7 games. That's not going to work. We're still turning the ball over, but the worst part is the offense is playing entirely too timid and will not win games. This isn't a matter of lack of talent. It's a matter of mentality. Want to. This offense just doesn't want to right now. It's amazing you're still defending Shanny and still in denial about the talent. Shanny is a pass happy Tranny and the middle of that Oline is a sieve. Wardog357
You know...I quit expecting this team to win another game this season 2 or 3 games ago....so far....I think I might be right. Sad....just Sad. I have never seen a team get this bad this quick with very little chance of winning a game. If they could just manage to beat the Saints the last game....It would at least end the season on somewhat of a positive note.

Shanny is a pass happy Tranny and the middle of that Oline is a sieve.Where did I defend Kyle in the OP? You clearly missed where I said we threw too much, agreeing with the pass happy argument you've had, I said he didn't take enough shots, which I think we all can agree on, said he, along with Matt, isn't giving our few playmakers a chance to make plays. Read the OP or don't. But don't try and post something where the post shows otherwise.
HEIST
Lol Matt's gotta throw the ball to the end zone to make that happen. What amazes me is Roddy was wide open in the back of the end zone and that's when Matt decides to throw it out of the back of the end zone versus last week. I think Matt Ryan has turned into Mike Smith. He's too reliant on doing the opposite of what didn't work last time versus playing his game. Neither of them knew how to compartmentalize mistakes, which leads/led to trying to rely on the past for present decision making. When he hugged Smitty as we got blown out 34-3 by the Panthers in our win-and-in game, he absorbed Smitty's conservative yet prone to boneheaded decision powers. toadfishtom
Of all the offensive coordinators Matt Ryan has worked with Shanahan is the worst. The first 5 games are a distant memory. The reality is we are predictable and soft and Ryan is uncomfortable with this scheme.Unfortunately Ryan is our only viable option at QB .This year is in the toilet spinning around with the other ugly turds. The only remaining game we might win is Jacksonville.
