Pacific_Falcon
He's had different OC's but this is his first lousy season, and all this time the other OC's were tricking us into thinking he's good? For your sake, get off of the internet and instead spend your time trying to slap the stupid out of yourself. gazoo
"The main thing is, I don't think about balancing out passes," Shanahan said. "I think about trying to get the ball to Julio (Jones), for the most part."In other words, I am telling this offense, and Matt Ryan that I expect Ryan to force throws to Julio even if double or triple teamed irrespective of if Roddy or any other receiver is wide open on the field. Atlfanstckndenver
What's funny is that even if what op says is true, that is basically saying that Shanahan is doing a terrible job. Mr. Lubba Lubba©
What's funny is that even if what op says is true, that is basically saying that Shanahan is ding a terrible job.Yea, any OC that "exposes" their QB is definitely more terrible than the QB, but hey

"I think about trying to get the ball to Julio (Jones), for the most part."yep this^^^ heard him say it in his presser!!! that's about as stupid as his now predictable offense!! that's some arrogant $hit to even say. Matt's not playin' well, no doubt but Shanahan ain't calling great games either!

Domed Outter
Roddy and Julio also said defenses had us figured out and were also taking advantage of how slow we set up to snap by changing defense up last second. Nev in the past 7 years did I hear these kinds of things. There's no urgency with this offense. Sick of it.When the only urgency is when a team is 17 points down, that should fall on the head coach. BeRom
You got it exactly 'bassacwards', . It should read "Matt Ryan has exposed a very average Offensive Coordinator"
Javader09
Wonder how our previous very average offensive coordinators somehow hid Ryan's averagability and disguised it as some of the very top QB stats in the NFL over a 7 year period? Boy, that was a heck of a good trick!Incredible it is just now after 8 years the real guy is showing up, those other 7 years all a fake. The 24 fourth quarter comebacks were fakes also. Nono
Ryan is used to having the power to call plays at the line (audible---remember Chevy Tahoe Chevy), instead Shanahan has him going throw his progressions and if the primary isn't open, MR panics a bit. He is used to already knowing who he wants to throw to before the play. Edited November 30, 2015 by Nono

apl2g
I think th OP has this backwards. I think Ryan and co. are exposing Shannahan as average at best OC. I do think MR is struggling but the offense as a whole is to. At some point when an offense that was pretty darn good for the past few years is falling apart at all points you start looking at the coach

It's on the passing game, routes, dropped passes, lousy execution. Coaching, players. People shouldn't care less, bang some heads and have them work it out instead of messing up the last 8 weeks of the season.Over to you, coach Quinn. Let's see whether this head coach has the aggression to attack this as he likes to do in the pressers.
fansince78
I think KS ruined a couple of other QBs before he came to Atlanta. Matt is a pocket passer and instead of inventing plays and schemes that make his skill set work, KS wants Matt Ryan to adapt to his offense. Matt is not the scrambling quarterback that KS wants him to be, even RG 3 was not. TD made another one of his iodic decisions to bring him here. Blame Ryan if you want (his career will be over soon anyway), but TD is why this team sucks!
octoslash
It's just not as simple as saying, "This guy sucks so get rid of him", or "That guy came along and ruined this guy, so get rid of THAT guy". It takes a combination of things to make a good football team, and it takes a combination of things to make a bad football team. If it's so dammed easy, all of us should be running pro sports teams. The mess the Falcons are in won't be fixed by just stamping 'FIRED' on one person's next pay stub. It's going to take patience, decisive ownership, and determination. I hope there's enough of all that to get the job done, because the way I see this team, it could be very good a year from now...or it could be a laughingstock again. Grossman? RGiii? Hoyer?Who has he coached that was just so good before him that you can say he ruined? Those guys were ruined before Shanny ever called a play for them. People also forget that RGlll was Rookie Offensive Player of the Year with Shanny OVER Andrew Luck. The dude knows what he's doing. People thought that was his offensive mind and what you believe Matt Ryan could do, it was a match made in heaven. But this is what happened, Shanny was a genius the first 5 games and you have to adjust. Shanny was trying to adjust with a QB he thought could handle it with making reads and taking care of the ball. But like the post says, he exposed him. You have to dummy this offense for him. Because he will stare down that number one read and throw it too him. I like Shanny. Matt handcuffs his play calling because he doesn't have the arm to stretch the field like McNabb, Grossman, RGlll, or even Hoyer. Watch out for the Redskins to release RGlll and Shanny try to pick him up.
TeamPlayer1
I have been a good businessman and so far, if I could buy Kyle Shanahan for what he thinks he's worth and sell him for what he's worth, I would have a fine margin.
