Halsey.
I understand that Roddy White is 34 and one of the best players in franchise history, but that doesn't mean he should get a pass. He's one of the highest paid players on the team and is supposed to provide some balance in the passing game. He's getting a pass because of past performance and lazy criticism by fans and media. People default to OC, QB, O-line when an offense isn't meeting expectations, but Roddy isn't even playing well for a backup WR, much less a starter. Shaggy 2.0
the one pass i kept replaying in my head- is where 84 and 11 are lined up on the same side. 11 runs a route that takes him into triple coverage(skinny post i think). 84 runs a shallow route and stops/comes back.(dig maybe). Matt throws to 11 where 84 was ridiculously wide open. Roddy's guy left him and trailed 11. I dont know why Matt stays so focused on 11. is it lack of time? OC telling him too? i get that even double covered julio will win half of the balls, but come on- sooner or later that well is going to dry up. most likely when you need it the most(3rd and long). Guest Gritz
On most of the replays I saw when Ryan was trying to force it to either A.) Julio or B.) Tamme there was Roddy either out in the flat or in a seam wide open.I can't really see how not getting the ball at that point is on Roddy. Due to your past performance, as well as the laziness of fans and media, we're giving you the 'not being thrown to' free pass. Enjoy!"I pray you are really this ignorant and not literally that stupid. Roddy is open a LOT when Matt is scanning the field, he never makes it through his full progressions though because Shanahan has Julio, Freeman, Tamme, Hardy, Williams and Weems all ahead of him on the progression chart. I actually sat down and did the Math a few weeks back and Matt only makes it to Roddy on like 14% of his progressions. Pretty ridiculous considering the man was our no. 2 with a few yards short of 1k recieving yards last year. Shanahan just doesn't have Roddy in on the progressions like Koetter did, plain and simple. No more threads like this need to be brought up. I just gave you all the answer here. I'm sure many others have concluded this as well, hence the sarcasm. Halsey.
Yeah, I might buy the idea that Ryan is suddenly ignoring Roddy White for no good reason if A) Roddy wasn't one of the most targeted WRs in the NFL since Ryan entered the league and B ) I bought into lame excuses. Halsey.
Look at these apologists! So sad! Yeah, guys, it's a conspiracy against Roddy. His lack of production has nothing to do with his own level of play. Leonard Hankerson has been more productive, despite missing games, but it has nothing to do with Roddy's level of play. #1juliofan
I'm confused by it all. I just, don't understand anything . If Roddy is getting open often(and he is) why is Shannahan not picking this up on film and perhaps telling Matt to progress to him earlier in the read. Is the progression in the form of wide receivers or is it who's running what route. Does it go a,b,c receiver or a,b,c route.

Halsey.
I knew people would disagree with me. Fans are predictable. Offense isn't performing well, blame the OC, QB, O-line, Excuse away the play of the aging star WR. Cookie cutter fan logic.
Halsey.
Ryan is near the top of the league in Completion%, so the excuse that he's not throwing it to the open man doesn't fly.
insight
Ryan is near the top of the league in Completion%, so the excuse that he's not throwing it to the open man doesn't fly.Not necessarily true. Matt's highest completion percentage in his career was 2012 with Tony G. He routinely threw to Tony G when he was not open often times Tony was double and tripple teamed. Tony G had great hands but many times better options were available if he went through the progressions.
