rightsaidfred
Notice how the Falcons don't stretch the field much under Shanahan? Everything is short and quick. That does 2 things for the team - 1) moves the ball by little and little (except when there are turnovers!) 2) Allows MR to get rid of the ball before the opposing D gets to him.Julio was running just fine yesterday - he chased down the TB defender with seemingly no issues. But even with 162 (I think) yds, he didn't get too many long passes. The CB's for TB are not all that, and I fully expected JJ to abuse them. But he stayed mostly.underneath.In the OT, when we had the ball, we tried to go deep twice. Both times MR got mauled. IMO, the O line has looked better not because they are that good, but because the scheme doesn't give the opposing D time to disrupt. When we need to stretch the field - we can't b/c MR doesn't have the time needed.Yeah, I know........I'm Captain Obvious. Just venting a little....... Windy City Falcon
I think it's too easy to try and blame the o-line. They are good enough. They aren't the Patriots but watch other NFL games, plenty of other o-lines look like ours and the other QB's still make things happen
Guest Gritz
The interior of the Falcons O-line is awful at pass pro...simply awful. Most of the time the heat on Ryan comes right up the gut.Chester often has to be helped with his pass pro assignment. Levitre isn't much better and Person isn't anything to write home about. It's the same story it's always been. When we build it off play action and make a *legitimate* fake, he has time. There was a play in the first half set up for deep play action where he had an amazing clean pocket for five seconds. He still chose a dump off route. I'm not sure Matt has the confidence or maybe arm strength to throw the deep ball effectively anymore.

PapaJoe
I didn't understand the release of Hawley then; and don't now.
DMT11
no idea why we released him, epic fukup - no ourline is getting owned currently - theyve figured out our protections now so get used to this until we get better talent up there. The tackles are doing well, but interior guys are not pass protectors.
YoungHeezy
The center not being able to consistently snap the ball is what's exposing our O-line.
Guest Gritz
The center not being able to consistently snap the ball is what's exposing our O-line.That and the fact that the interior can't consistently pass protect. Ryan is getting killed right up the gut.
Big_Dog
At this stage of the season, not having a dependable center is rediculous.
FentayeJones
Run/Pass blocking is not what is hurting this team. Whats hurting this team is turnovers and penalties. And its not even the takeaways by teams. Most of the turnovers are unforced. We moved the ball at will on both TB and the Saints and killed ourselves with unforced turnovers.
