can someone explain to me why Collins is getting playtime on the outside? he didn't really impress me plus i saw him lose his guy a few times last week and just lucky the ball didn't come that way. i figured alford on the outside is still better or is adams that bad at nickel?

That move was covered in the pressers yesterday. That move was more about getting better on the inside. The previous nickle got roasted by New Orleans. The defensive staff felt like that had to be address following that game. The zone we play can be adjusted to help Collins on the outside. The coaching staff feels like Alford can better use his physicality in the nickle where he gets an opportunity to engage receivers with his hands in the zone where contact is allowed (within 5 yards of the LOS). They also envision using him in blitzes from the nickle slot as well. Instead of putting him on the outside where he has a tendency to draw penalties by using his hands, put him on the inside where he is allowed to use them to disrupt route timing. McClure covered most of this in his article on ESPN's Falcons blog.

It wasn't a demotion for Alford and a promotion for Williams. It was more about getting a player they considered incapable of holding up in the nickle off of the field.

Collins played 37 snaps on Sunday and wasn't targeted a single time. You can't really complain about that.

Very interested to see how he plays this weekend, since the Bucs are almost guaranteed to match Mike Evans up against him, sacrificing some scrub receiver to Trufant Island.

It is really odd for me to be confident. I'm not sure how to deal with it. That said, I just feel like Ryan and the offense are ready to go off on someone. I didn't feel that way against Tennessee or Washington. I certainly didn't feel that way against Houston. However, I sense an offensive explosion this week.

I understand the sentiment that we need to run to keep the pass rush off of Ryan. However, the Bucs back up that D-line with a suspect secondary. In most cases, our receivers are going to win quicker than the D-line can get there. There may be a "whiff" or two by the O-line where Ryan gets sacked. However, in general, I think the ball is coming out early and often. If we do run the ball well, and I think we will, our play action is going to lead to multiple big gains.

I agree with the general assessment of Tampa's strengths in this thread. However, their weaknesses have going largely overlooked.

The big concern for me is that the Redskins were supposed to have an atrocious secondary, which was further decimated by injury, and the offense really struggled to move the ball in the air against them.

Coupled with the way we've struggled to consistently move the ball, a rash of bad turnovers and penalties, and Bryant's shaky accuracy the past two weeks, there's reason to be wary against the Bucs this weekend.

Hopefully we play another complete game like we did against Houston, and just completely demolish them in all phases of the game. I'd love to see a comfortable win by three scores.

Feature Freeman early and often. Not just rushing, but in screens as well, and I'd love to see him slip into the defensive backfield got another downfield pass. Beyond that, I'd suggest that we blitz more often than normal (since Tampax is down to one starting wife receiver) and this will be a great week for Hardy to play because Hester burned the Bucs out of the slot last year.

Make no mistake, this will be a passing game for all the right reasons. Matt Ryan will quiet the "I'm hurt" crowd, and this will show on sunday. We're a tuff team at home and more so

against a divisional opponent. The rookie qb will look like that excactly.....a rookie qb. Our defense will take it to the next level and hopefully our offense. The buc's stop here and we

start here for a run at the playoffs.....Don't sleep on us NFL, you will see a hungry Falcon team heading in the right direction. Class dismissed..."Ahh, D-led please stay behind. I have to talk to you a minute."
