southernscot
I have nothing to prove this (and he apparently recorded 0 tackles in Nashville), but it seemed like Jalen Collins saw the field significantly more last week. Perceptions from anybody else on this board?I know VJax is out and Evans will be Trufant's primary assignment, but still the Bucs' big targets (including Sefarian-Jenkins) could mean that Collins — the biggest corner on the roster — sees more PT.I know people thought he seemed like a bust in Week 4. Have those thoughts changed?
ATLFalcon36
I thought he held up pretty well, this would definitely be a good test to see how he fares. I mean the whole point we drafted him was to cover large receivers, what better test than the bucs?
Dirtybird56
Yes Collins played a lot last week because he came in to play outside corner in our nickel package and Alford moved inside.Quinn said the plan is the same for this week, Collins will play on the outside and Alford will move inside when we go nickel. Collins is going to see his fair share of Mike Evans this week, let's see what the young dude has

If the bucs play a lot of nickel then we'll see Collins on the outside and since Koetter likes 4 verts it's highly likely. The good thing is cover 3 is a perfect coverage for 4 verts. This could be a multi pick game. The weakness of cover 3 is the seam tho so they will have to be mindful of seam routes. The pressure will be key this week. Pacific_Falcon
I think Collins has been playing a lot more than people realize...but it's because they don't notice him because he's not screwing up...which is a good thing. He will see the field plenty with all the spread formations Koetter likes.
paulitik
It's possible. He did just come out of retirement. RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
The snap counts confirm Jalen played a lot. I saw him on the field, but I honestly don't recall him being targeted. Anyone recall seeing that? The other problem is that Alford got beat like a drum last week. Luckily Mettenberger was unable to take too much advantage of it, but holy cow did Alford look awful out there. Wonder if moving between outside and inside messed with his head too much? They're just waiting for him to make a mistake, which he will cause he's a rookie, but they can't get themselves to admit he's been playing well and he's played in EVERY game this season. Thing is they just haven't noticed until this last game.

A team player who just wants to help the team win.It actually makes sense tho. Collins will get beat like a drum in the slot but on the outside he has 3 things going for him. 1. His height Having him on the outside in nickel gives us 2 6'0 corners. 2. His speedNot much drop off from his speed and alfords 3. Cover 3In this coverage all he does is bail to keep passes underneath so it will be hard to throw deep on him. Will have to be a perfect pass. Lornoth
I'm not sure the Bucs even have 3 WR's healthy on their roster to force us into nickel packages. I hope he keeps getting more play time though, he looked good last week and more live time can only expedite the learning process.
Atlantafan21
I'm thinking yes because the Bucs have two talk mo'fckers in Evans and VJax.
Atlfanstckndenver
I think Tampa's offense along with Kelvin B in Carolina is exactly why we drafted a guy like Collins. It may not be a confidence that his playing time was ramped up right before the Tampa game. Jmo
Clark Kent™
Vjax isn't even expected to play. Their only active WRs are Evans, Dye, and someone they just signed off practice squad earlier. They would be smart to try to exploit Evans vs Collins rather than Tru. Collins size could come in real handy against WR's like Evans. But i don't see this game being particularly close. JmoIt's because Adams was getting beat in the slot a lot and since tenn ran a lot of 3 wide sets Adams was benched and Collins started in nickel except on the outside and moved alf to the slot. I'm sure that will be the plan. Makes sense. This is also what I was saying about the Tennessee game. If you know there's a rookie on the outside why not try and exploit him? I saw mettenbetger look his way but elected to go elsewhere for a better matchup. I do think Winston will test that matchup. The good thing is cover 3 plays into Collins' strength. Man is where he struggles. If they run cover 3 press he can still be bail technique but not give Evans a free release.

We will see how he does this week if he gets to matchup with Evans 1v1 a lot. I'm hoping he does. I don't have that high of expectations for him right now, but he is still young so we will see. He bit sooooo hard on the receivers head nod that it created 6 yards of separation on a 10 yd comeback route. It was bad bud
