conalthomas
Interesting read, thanks. It does make you wonder.
paulitik
It's fixable. Trust and confidence in the system will help. I think there are some things Shanahan can do to adjust his offense to Matt's talents as well. namely incorporating more oppurtunities to go into a no-huddle. mc
Problem is that unless you go deep often, your timing will continue to be off. We go for ball control which means short passes that control the clock. Long drives.
harveybirdman
Starting to feel like he's hurt. Shanny's route trees can't be that different.
mc
His reads are short to long. From 2012-14 it was long to short.
Dirtybird56
Herein lies a large part of the problem:"Ryan was in the top 12 in deep pass attempts, completions, yards and accuracy percentage (completions plus drops divided by attempts) in 2012 and '14.""Ryan is well outside the QB1 class through the first seven weeks of the season because he is missing the deep throws he hit with regularity over the last three years"
Sponge
This is worrisome honestly.
Karst41
I am quite pleased with the season. Is Ryan tearing it up this year? NO, but Freeman is beasting.and I am more inclined to worry about Freemans Touch Count becauseRyan will spring back.Bottom line is this.Football is a " TEAM" Sport.Fantasy Football is just that,,,, Fantasy.,,!, em all. NOVAFalconFan
Sports Illustrated is really bringing it with those quality MS Paint graphics. Very professional. Crisp, clear highlighting? Nah, son. Ima freehand it.
Wjcorner
Yeah he hasn't played well yet, hopefully it all clicks as the season progresses. Even in his decent games he's missed throws he normally makes.

Sadly, I don't think KS is big on 'adjusting his offense.' Matt needs the no huddle pace and more audiblizing. If that can be arranged without disrupting this wonderful new running attack we will kill. If it ever comes to a choice between Matt and Kyle then Kyle must go. falconidae
Lets see if this improves over the season- I'm thinking it will. And that this offense could be deadly going into the playoffs.
Falconsfan9
His breakdown of the plays is spot on, however, who gives a rip where Ryan ranks in fantasy? Wasn't the Hankerson pass after he left with a rib injury? Could the pain of the injury slowed him down? Also, 13 drops between Hank and Julio combined has hurt his numbers. Although at 6-1 I'm excited about how much better it can be

If it ever comes to a choice between Matt and Kyle then Kyle must go. he adjusted his offense for RG3 his first season and he had one of the best seasons for a rookie, but the second year he got rigid and tried to force RG3 into his system and he suffered big time. I don't think he fully appreciates what he has in Matt yet. the thing that concerns me is that not only is Matt missing long throws, he's missing on short & intermediate throws too. I hope it's just him pressing and he rebounds and the Real Matt shows up
birdz4i
getting bad snaps to throw off the timing of routes and having your wrs average 3 drops a game is going to kill most qbs chance of looking decent.

Quarterback
Everyone including Ryan himself knows he could play better, but I'll take reality over fantasy, and the reality is we're 6-1 and Matt Ryan's 4th quarter heroics is one of the primary reasons. I think he will have to. KS wants a head coaching gig. I can't see him not taking advantage of the best QB he's ever had. But you are right. There's a lot more invested in Ryan, and I don't see anyone coming in the draft in the next 2 years that will be better.
Butudontseeme™
I fear that Ryan is nicked up. I started feeling that way vs the skins. However, the interception was off of Jones' hands, so even if the throw wasn't ideal, it still should have been caught.
Dirtybird56
Ryan will adjust and get back to his usual self Im not worried. I just thought he would've adjusted already because of high expectations for him
paulitik
Those Fantasy Numbers would look a lot better if we could get the 3 TDs to Julio that were taken away, the 1 to Hank, and 1 to Freeman Back from the Refs..
Big_Dog
Been preaching Ryan is undependable. Can it be fixed? We hope so or this potentially great season will be handed to the Panties. Those of you defending him to the hilt better wake up.
MilleniumFalcon
Obvious inaccuracy issues. I don't know what's going on in Ryan's head for sure but it looks like he thinks the pass protection won't hold up. He thinks there's less time than he usually is provided... trying to rush things, resulting in inaccurate throws (bad mechanics and messy footwork) or going to his first read Julio even if it isn't completely open. When things are open, it floats in the air or comes up short.

I hope it's just him pressing and he rebounds and the Real Matt shows upThe FO made him change the offense...they didn't want RGIII to keep exposing himself to brutal hits so instead of telling him to slide they made it more conventional and coached him to stay in the pocket.Aside from trying to have Ryan throw out this slump Shanahan hasn't held this offense back. That's all on Ryan and this lull he's in. Hopefully he'll snap out of it, but the only offensive change we need to do to 'conform' to Ryan is run the ball more and put the ball in our best offensive weapon's hands right now.
