FAN_O_THE_ATL
FABruce Irvin, OLB - probably too good to be true but fills an immediate need for a quality OLB that can get after the QB. Mark Barron, S - I've liked Barron's skills since he came out of Bama even though he has somewhat of a bust label. He's actually played well for the Rams and is still young. I think he would be an upgrade at SS. DraftI'll preface this by saying Robert Nkemdiche, DE/DT or Myles Jack, LB would almost certainly be my first round pick if either are on the board. 1. A'shawn Robinson DE/DT, Alabama - I expect that at least one of T Jackson, Soliai, & Babs will not be back next year. A'shawn can be a beast in Quinn's D. 2. Kendell Beckwith LB, LSU - IMO LBs are the weakest position on the current team. Not sure if Beckwith has the athleticism Quinn would want but I'm going to assume he does at this point. 3. Nick Martin C/OG, Notre Dame - young talent to develop for the interior online. 4. Josh Harvey-Clemmons S, Louisville - great size, good ball skills, and a sure tackler...and safety is IMO the 2nd weakest position on the team. 5. 6. 7. Malcolm Mitchell WR/CB, Georgia - not sure if MM will be around in the 7th round (CBS has him there at this point) but this pick is made with the idea of transitioning MM back to CB. He has the size & skills to be a great CB in Quinn's system.

GleasonForever!
I like it. People wine about the pass rush and think it's all on the DE's but fail to realize that our DT group has only 1 sack and that was from Hage. The whole right side of the line (Scho and Babs) have been very dissapointing this season. I would like to see Irvin Robinson Hage/Grady Beasly next year on third downs

He has the size & skills to be a great CB in Quinn's system. Not a bad start to the early mock season. Let me throw out some ideas and have you respond to them. 1. A'Shawn Robinson would be the best choice that we can make. I suspect that we will likely lose one or two of our big bodies along the DL. For sake of the argument, let's say that Soliai is the odd-man-out. We lack big man depth and I think that Robinson can not only anchor down the interior, but he can actually push back the center of the pocket. A guy like him would make our MLB look a lot better and allow our perimeter pass rushers a better shot at finishing the play. 2. Signing Bruce Irving is probably the most obvious thing for us to do. He is young, knows Quinn's defense and he represents a legitimate pass rushing threat from the SLB position. I like the idea of Beasley and Irving gunning for the QB from opposite sides. 3. Barron is OK, but I don't see him as an upgrade over Moore. I'd rather keep the oft-injured WM and draft his successor. 4. Here is an out-of-the-box thought: Sign Attaouchu in the off season. He does not seem to be a good fit for San Diego's defense, so he might become available. If so, he would make a great rotational pass rusher that could also add a lot of speed to ST's. Just a thought. 5. I'd like to see us draft a good TE in the second round. If Alabama's Howard drops that far, he would be my choice. I just think that our offense would work far better with a TE that can combine a big play threat with good, solid blocking. 6. I think that Person is a good OC and that he will only get more valuable to us with time. I am beginning to like our OL, but I think that we need to look at RG and RT, if only for depth. 7. Clemmons and Mitchell are great ideas. I did not know that MM has CB skills. 8. Finally, I see that we are missing some late round picks (due to trades). We may want to consider trading down a few slots in the third round to pick up another draft pick. I think that there will be some really good developmental LB's dropping into the 5th and 6th rounds and I'd like to take advantage of that. Very disruptive and can play multiple positions across the DL. Will help our edge rushers.

I'd rather keep the oft-injured WM and draft his successor.I do see Barron as an upgrade. Barron is a tackling machine and is apparently playing very well this year (maybe because it's his FA year, who knows). I would prefer Barron to WM. I think Barron is a better athlete, better blitzer, better tackler, and probably better in coverage. WM is probably a bigger hitter and may be more of a vocal leader. Barron is an UFA and I'd be surprised if he gets tagged so he can be had.

He's definitely a physical beast with loads of potential...I just haven't been extremely impressed with his ball skills and blocking thus far. Still young though. Plus I'm still prioritizing LB over TE and think it's easier to find a decent TE in FA. As for OL I like how they have come together but I'm scared to death of what happens if someone gets hurt. Definitely need to start building/improving depth.

Definitely need to start building/improving depth. I see it differently. I'd handle our LB needs through free agency. Bruce Irving would make a perfect SLB for us. And, if we really wanted to ding the Seahawks, we could take a shot at Bobby Wagner. Personally, I'd prefer to keep Worrilow and see if we can hit on a good MLB prospect in a later round. Durant can start next season, but we definitely need to find a guy to develop behind him. Of course, there is Brooks Reed, though I have no idea what to think of him. The FA pool of TE's is not that hot. Yes, there are former first-rounders, but, to be honest, not a lot of quality performers. I like Howard, but I will look around to see if there are alternatives. There should be some good LB prospects in this years draft that will help us inside and I'd like us to get one. IMO a stud MLB is more important to our defense than a stud TE is to our offense. That's why I'd prefer prioritizing that position in the draft. I get your point though that maybe you get more of a known commodity through FA. Good news is that since we would be after a pure #2 I think our options should be plentiful.
etherdome
I think that we have a solid WR corps. Hardy and Williams look like good young talented receivers. Hankerson has his problems, but I would still bank on him playing next season. If we draft another WR, I hope we do so in the later rounds. (not that we have many late-round picks) I would concentrate on acquiring a true threat at TE. Establishing a good run game (Freeman) with a serious deep threat (Julio), and then adding a stalwart TE (like Witten) would vault our offense to top tier.
