GET-ME-A-DB-TD
So I just drove 10 hours from West Palm to ATL and had lots of time to think. We hired DQ to bring some tenacity to our team and gain consistency on the Defensive side of the ball. He did just that. He's taken this group to the top vs. the run, however, we have sacrificed any type of pressure or blitz offerings due to a simple, basic and fundamental style of defense. Let me ask a few questions:A) when was the last time we saw an opposing QB have to throw the ball away 2-3 times in a game bc nobody was open? Could it be because some one is ALWAYS open? when was the last time we drew a "roughing the passer" penalty bc we were consistently punishing the QB? I personally can't remember one however they get called in Matt Ryan's favor about every other game.C) why throw Julio the ball 30 times in 3 weeks KNOWING he will take the abuse and inevitably pull up gimp for several weeks? It happens every single year I.e. Green Bay and Arizone last year.I ask these questions because as I'm driving I'm listening to the Eagles/Giants game and it's NOTHING short of a defensive showdown. Both QB's are getting BEAT DOWN and all I can think of is "God could you imagine if we had a pass rush like that"? Yes, I know I know we have a better record BUT if we could bring ANY type of heat on third down those 4 wins we pulled out would have been run away victories. For sh!tz sake people STUPAR has a sack. Brooks Reed is a bull rusher and Schofield is an agile, smart playmaker just waiting to happen. All we do is bring edge heat with Beasley, Bierrman and Scho and if they don't beat their guys by the third step, they pull up and spy. I'm really worried. Guest facelessman07
Keep in mind the defense we have currently is not a complete DQ style of defense. He's only had 1 offseason to work on the worst D in the league, we gotta be patient. A house is not built overnight

Jesus
Meh watch the game. It isn't a defensive showdown but a meeting of two crappy QBs and their mediocre offensive lines. One of these lousy teams is going to have a home playoff game come January. Despite the Falcons record they may not.

dirtybird2k5
Think about this... this team is NOT going to win the Super Bowl. Sorry to say it, folks. We can make some noise. H3LL, we had the whole league talking about us. But we have major flaws. 567, you are kinda wrong there. Our O-line is pretty good. You have to understand that the center is the quarterback of the O-line. Once we lost Person, sh*t took a nosedive. Stone is not the guy. Why do you think the staff had him playing guard in camp and preseason? Our LB's suck. Especially Worrilow. He has no idea how to cover his zone, or pass anyone off once they run through his zone on to the next defender. We really need Durant back. I just hope the dude can stay healthy. And I think Reed is still playing on a bum nut. So let's start here. Our D-line is solid, we have the number one ranked rush defense for a reason, and that starts up front.Maybe we can make some noise in the playoffs. I won't hold my breath. I've noticed a lot of posters go from, "This sh*t is hopeless!" to, "We're gonna win the Super Bowl!" at the drop of a coeds panties, but y'all need to slow your roll a little bit. Watch the game without emotion involved. There is plenty of blame to go around, but don't let your bias take control. Now one thing I remember from the Mora Jr. days was the coaching staff preaching play the run on your way to the quarterback. So we are off to a good start. Our run defense is beast. Beasley is gonna be okay. His first step is unmatched in the NFL. He just has to learn how to work the Tackle. Ask Hugh Douglas. Hugh is a big fan of Vic, and if you know Hugh, he wouldn't say it if he didn't mean it. H*ll, that's how he got fired from ESPN.It's a work in progress, folks. Enjoy the season. Enjoy some Atlanta Falcons football. I bet ya we don't lose a game in the Dome. I'll put my two cents there. You know you are all gonna show up. You know you all have hope. Let's give this another season though. Irvin is as good as ours. He wants to be here. We could use him. Slide Durant in the middle with Worrilow the backup. P-A-T-I-E-N-C-EYour Atlanta Falcons are a work in progress. Now get to the Dome before kickoff, and make some MOTHERF***ING NOISE!

TRUUUU
I know expectancy has risen because of our start but you have to remember these elite pass rushers don't grow on trees. Vic has struggled but rookies are infamously bad in their first years on both lines and I think you're seeing with Jake how much difference a year can make. There is no doubt this defense will be top 20 which is a big improvement from 32nd last year. I for one am enjoying not watching teams run it down our throat this year and having the top ranked rush defense in the NFL is not easy. I'm sure we will improve further with free agent additions and our draft next year.We can't be too down after 6 games, 5 -1 and some good games coming up, lets enjoy this season. It's usually with a LB and one of the reasons we were getting torched late in the Saints game.LB blitzes and nobody covers where he came from... Easy completion for Brees.Short week & not a lot of prep to improvise so it's no surprise there were breakdowns like that.

I'm excited already for next year's offseason to see what kind of noise we make there. However, I'm going to enjoy watching us win some games this year against these terrible teams we have lined up.Only one thing I'd change, and that's just getting a new middle linebacker all together. Durant and Reed are OLB for a reason. If you HAD to move one of the two inside, I'd rather it be Reed.
FalconBlood23
I think if we make into the playoffs with home field we'd shock the world. I have that feeling. Both QB's are getting BEAT DOWN and all I can think of is "God could you imagine if we had a pass rush like that"?EXCUSE ME???We had 8 QB hits against the Eagles and Bradford had a 77.1 Passer Rating. The Eagles had 1 sack, three hits on Ryan, who had a 90.1 RatingAgainst the Giants, we had 2 sacks and six hits but Eli had a 105.4 rating. They had 2 sacks and 9 hits on Ryan, who had a 90.8 rating. And we won both games.I think we are doing fine getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. And, I think Sean Payton game planned for our pass rush. Brees attacked the poor pass defense play with our linebackers and safeties by using very quick releases or rollouts. It's not like he was taking 7 step drops and scanning the field. I don't think it is a coincidence that we are number one against the run but got destroyed by a journeyman tight end.
