falconsd56
Thank you sir...but I take no credit. Stevie Wonder could see that's what our Falcons need.We could use upgrades in those positions but honestly ( and this is something that I have said the last couple years)Our defensive players are better when we are aggressive....... For everything great that Quinn has brought ,he has continued the trend of passive sitting back in a zone and waiting for them to catch the ball defense that we all hated under Smitty
falconcrest58
To feature A "Wes Welker" type WR.. i watch teams all Sunday and the scary ones have that "Wes Welker" type slot WR... i really like Nick Williams i think he should get a lot more PT, he has that shifty play ability that would help get those 2nd & 6-10 manageable plays.. come to think about it.... i can't wait to see how much if any Devin Hester will fit in once he comes back ThoughtsOk yeah can Wes Welker Rush the d@#% passer or cover tight ends???? Pass defense sucks.....we still don't have a freaking pass rush. DTROFFED

We aren't sitting back in a passive zone and waiting for them to catch the ball by design.... Quinn would love nothing more than for a LB or Willy Mo to step up and cover someone underneath and NOT let them catch it. The defense isn't DESIGNED to let people catch the ball. We just have a weakness in coverage in the middle of the field and of course any decent QB is going to take advantage of that. Nothing scheme wise can be done about that. It can still be an attacking defense if you get faster stronger players at key positions.Seattle's defense (prior to this year) was pretty fierce (aggressive) and yet they played the same base Cover 3 that the Falcons are now.We just don't have our Wagner, Chancellor or Thomas yet. k-train
We have scored more points than any other team in the entire NFL expect the Cardinals. We also aren't struggling to move the ball in the air or on the ground. We aren't missing anything on that side of the ball, we just have to cut down on turning the ball over. When we drive down the field & then cough up the ball without points, it means our D is up against TWO offenses in one game... the opponent & our own. That is too much pressure on ANY defense, and makes it near impossible to win.We don't need a player, we just need ball control from the ones we already have. Don't get me wrong i love watching them i just feels like its pressured to make big plays with JJ Hank and Free.. rather then have a player to make the small dink and dunk type plays for us
4dabirds
The Falcons have needed a good defense now for 17 years. This organization pissed away the few good years that Vick/Dunn/Crumpler played with a sorry middle of the road defense. Now they are doing the same with Ryan. Look at how the 98 team was loaded with great defensive players, and you'll see one of the main reasons the Falcons went to the Super Bowl.I'm glad we have a really good defensive minded coach now, but the Falcons need a huge upgrade with defensive personnel. I don't know if wholesale changes are needed, but we certainly could use better safety play and better LB play.

schwarzenegger321
1a. Monster DE in the Julius Peppers mold; 1b. A real FS that can intercept it, but rather put fear into WR or TE daring to catch a pass in the middle of the field.

He's got butterfingers just like Hankerson... maybe worse, and until they get it together with the drops, turnovers, etc. nothing's gonna change by having him in the slot.As for the O as a whole, it's still very early. We still don't even know what we have yet, because they've only played a handful of games in this system. Still, we are scoring tons of points & moving the ball at will most of the time. Once everybody finds their comfort zone w/ the scheme, and cut down on the turnovers it's going to be scary good.Think about it... we are 2nd in points scored, and that's after a ton of turnovers in the redzone over the past two games. Hindsight I know, but if we'd have turned those drives into points instead of giving the ball back to the other team, we'd be hands down the #1 scoring offense in football right now. That is elite. Both of those two can be deadly running or catching... especially in space... so having them both line up like that (or swap them w/ Coleman in the backfield & Free at WR) creates a potential nightmare for the opposing D, especially with a healthy Julio & Tamme out there. So again, I think we could very well have that explosiveness already, we just haven't had everyone healthy/comfortable enough yet to put it all out there.
