cooperbh
Focused anger. Have you never seen an interview with Tom Brady. He's pissed he was drafted in the 6th round 15 years ago. Not even the Pats could go undefeated, and by no means, am I saying the absolute reason we lost was lack of anger or sense of revenge. and you are warping my sentiment. Treating this game like any other game, like the next one on the schedule is not enough. There is deep history with this rivalry. There is a freaking monument to our folly, and underestimation of the Saints standing in front of the Super Dome. The intimidation, softness, and lack of focus was shameful. Channeling that energy into focus and production can be a useful tool, and the Patriots do that. There is something to this rivalry. There is something to the fact that we almost annually embarrass ourselves against this team. Katrina Bowl, Brees's TD record. We've had a few good wins against them, but their wins are historic. The Happy-Go-Lucky, play like a champion, like we play every team, without the context of the rivalry, the history, the issues of the previous regimes will haunt us. Not all games are the same. Some games you have to play with a sense of anger, and pride. That was an embarassment. You can pretend to be above it all, and act like it's no big deal, but it is. Nobody will remember this game in a month from now. Just like nobody cares that we swept the Saints last season. The fact of the matter is, the Pats are successful because they treat every game on the schedule like business as usual. They never get too high, never get too low. Just like all the great dynasties in history."Play with a sense of anger and pride"? What does that even mean? And how could someone watching from their living room possibly know the emotional state of players on the field? Aaron Rodgers goes around smiling the whole game. Looks like he's doing it all wrong. paulitik
You do realize that Payton and Brees have dominated us? Most games decided by a FG. With NO coming out on top most of those times, perhaps...PERHAPS that hatred gives them that slight edge.Isn't that what "Rise Up" means? Overcoming adversity, and focusing it to be better than before. It's in our **** Motto, and we can't "Rise up" when it matters. Yesterday mattered. This fanbase gets mocked constantly, but this is the crap we get when we get behind the team.

Why would he do that, I wonder?

Nothing changes, but they expect different results.

Yeah, there wasn't a video montage of the Katrina Bowl, or Brees breaking the TD record against us. We never hear about the Saints winning a Super Bowl before us. There isn't a ****ing statue built honoring a Falcons loss outside the Superdome.I'm sure the Pats aren't motivated by Bountygate at all. You're right. There is no way to tell somebody is playing with anger and passion. I mean it's impossible to tell with facial expressions, cursing, and body language, or the testimony of people that know the situation. Why would he do that, I wonder?Once again you are warping things. Losing isn't the issue. How we lost was. We played scared and unfocused.Give it up dude. I don't begrudge your warped sense of nonchalance superiority, don't begrudge us of our frustrations, and wanting to see us play our best against our most hated rivals. I'm not losing sleep. I can compartmentalize this frustration to the message boards, and sports talk between friends. But in the context of my fandom, and this community, I think we have every right to expect more. I've been with this team all my life. I'm sick of living up to the narrative.

The media sure as heck didn't remembered that we dot then last year, but they will always remember Katrina bowl and the punt and his they mock us with the statue. They still talk about, every time we play them. Every time!!! The only way to make them stop, is for us to turn the tide on them and start beating them more often than they beat us. But won't happen till Payton and Brees are gone. Luckily, this could be the final year.

My co-worker is fuming over the Colts comeback in 06. He's fuming about Goodell. Fuming about Mangini. They never get over it. They demand more. As a Dawgs fan, I get a little satisfaction that the last time we played Spurrier, it was an att whipping by us. I'm certain that will haunt him for the rest of his days, lol. Gotcha.Look, kids. I've said this before and I'll say it again: Getting angry doesn't give you magical super football powers. 'The Waterboy' is not a documentary. I know it's fun to believe - almost as fun as making up lame nicknames for every player on the team - but it simply ain't reality.Maybe some of you should just stick to the college game. Not only is it much easier to get a handle on from a comprehension standpoint, there is also that serenity you can only receive from knowing you will never lose to a team yours has paid good money to beat. Not everybody is cut out for adult football.

Tuggle'2
The head coach is always supposed to prepare like it's another game. The fans mostly are the ones that bring the emotions into a rivalry game not coaches or playersI get what you're saying but......I think Sean Payton and the Saints missed that memo.
