Unknøwn
Apparently he's dealing with alcohol or some other issue and showed up to work today "in no condition to work" and the USC brass has asked him to seek help
JayOzOne
What?! Steve Sarkisian has a substance abuse problem? Who coulda known that?/purpleThis is sad. Pat Haden knew that this man has issues when they had his drunken rant at that fund raiser in August. I hope he gets the help he needs and that his example can steer some of the kids witnessing his implosion to avoid self medication as a way to make life easier. Falconsfan567
This is where it pays to have a job working in sports. If I showed up at my job drunk I would get fired right on the spot. I wouldn't be given the chance to seek help and still keep my job.

Unknøwn
Sarkisian was drunk during the game against Arizona State. USC coaches had to forcefully pull him out of a player huddle. The players mentioned Sark did come to a team meeting drunk today.

Unknøwn
Peterson was not interested in USC. He has a child that had cancer. The job at Washington allowed the family to continue getting the needed treatment and the university agreed to work with him.

Guest
Peterson was not interested in USC. He has a child that requires special medical treatment. The job at Washington allowed the family to continue getting the needed treatment and the university agreed to work with him.Okay didn't know that, but still I didn't even understand the interest surrounding him in the first place. I don't keep up with Pac-12 football, but Washington has been kinda bad for some years now. Like I know they were better in the earlier part of last decade if not mistaken more so than when Sarkisian was running the show. Honestly who knows Whittingham(spelling?) might be on thier radar I mean having small Utah back into national spotlight like that. I do agree though might be Chip Kelly, but Chip is kinda saving himself little by little right now.

Infact when Carroll left to go to the Seahawks he wanted Sarkisian to take over for him. But instead they hired Lane Kiffin.Sarkisian did alright at Washington, not great, but alright. In the 5 years before he got there Washington went 12-47 including 0-12 in the year before Sark's first year. They never won more than 5 games in a season. Sark went 35-29 in his 5 years as Washington's coach, including 9-4 in his last year there. So that is why he got the job. They thought if he could turn Washington from god awful into a decent program he could do even better with better talent at USC. But USC has fallen flat on their face this year after major expectations coming into this season.
Carter
Hard to imagine how they manage to put everything together throughout the week and stay focused during the games if he's that big of a lush. His staff must be busting their ***** to compensate for his bs.

Welp the more you know, but still I was never high on him when usc was going after him.
SacFalcFan
Hope he gets the help he needs. He is gone after this season. And the Chip Kelly rumors will begin to swirl. same here.. he is going through a nasty divorce as well that's only adding to his drinking issues. he won't be there after the season. he is an example of a hot head coach who a lot of team's wanted now who will be lucky to have a job coaching. he needs to focus on getting over his alcoholism and dealing with his divorce. anyone who has dealt with that before understands how tough that can be on someone. Carter
Well that escalated quickly.Hopefully his life doesn't fall apart. Divorce can be an extremely, beyond imagination, nasty thing to go through. Hope he can put the pieces back together and move forward in a positive direction. Unknøwn
If Petrino can keep getting jobs I have faith a sober Sarkisian will land somewhere. He'll have to start small and work up but I have faith.

I don't disagree, but being drunk through a game and being drunk on campus meeting with players i think is something that will be hard to overcome especially short term. as everyone said he will need to get sober and deal with personal issues and then basically restart his career again. Unknøwn
Yes his first priority will be to get sober. Thats not a sure thing. Hopefully he gets sober whether he coaches again or not. I just hope he doesnt spiral from here because he can come back. It just wont be easy. Maybe he even needs to start as an OC again with less stress first. I think that takes it to a different level. both are wron in the end though.
