Possibility Of Shanny Only Being Here One Season

Recommended Posts

First off, let's be real here. We've got so many weapons on offense that each coordinator who has commandeered it will get HC consideration. Happened with Dirk, happened with Mularkey, and it will definitely happen with Kyle.

That being said, Kyle has never looked this good and has never had this type of personnel. While he's putting guys in incredible positions to succeed, I don't see that happening with other potential vacancies around the league.

HOU: Terrible offensively. Garbage fire at QB and we know how quickly that made Kyle want to get out of CLE. HOU is the city making the most smoke about hiring Kyle.

MIA: Very talented recievers, but a QB who cannot be trusted and has choked down the stretch past two seasons.

TB: Huge question mark with Jameis. Goes back to Kyle's days in CLE needing a steady QB.

PHI: Definitely a huge possibility. If Chip is ousted, that team has some pieces on offense to be dangerous IF they can find that QB. More weapons than in HOU or TB to make Kyle think on it.

I think Kyle is here for atleast one more season, but it's good to see our guys get recognition for their good work. If he were to be hired away after this year, I hope Q just keeps one of his disciples as the new coordinator to avoid drastic personnel/scheme changes.

I think it depends. If he wants to leave, he'll get a HC job. If he wants a Super Bowl, he'll stick around for a few seasons.

This is exactly what I always come back to. He's never had an offense like this and to be honest a janitor could still lead this team to a top 10 offensive ranking.

He absolutely deserves credit, but teams are in for a surprise if they think he'll turn pumpkin QB's into Cinderellas.

I think he loves the mix of talent he has here. I also can see AB paying him VERY well to stay! It's early still but damm I like what he presents each week. His adjustments during the game are wildly good. Not to be knocking our past mix of plays and OC, but even I could tell you what was coming by the way we lined up. I love our D but our "O" is just fun to watch.

I'll say what I said in another thread. I think the players make Shanahan more than he makes the players. Matt and Julio were already good. Shanahan makes good players even better with scheme. But if he goes to a team with not much talent, which would likely be the case because he would be being hired by a team that just fired its coach for losing, then he's not gonna change that team I don't think. Take his time at Cleveland. What did he do there? He didn't have the talent. Here he does. He has some talent in Washington before it went south on him. Head coaching material? Nope. At least not yet. Needs a few more years here.

I see him staying for at least two seasons. After that, it will depend on how attractive the HC offers are at that point in time. I think he could benefit tremendously by staying here long enough for the Falcons to win a Super Bowl, even if that takes three years. That SB win always looks good on a coach's resume the rest of his career.

Seriously please stop saying this. I feel like you are jinxing us. I knew when we hired him it could be one and done, but I hope he has been in the league long enough to know that when you have the chemistry he has with Ryan and Julio and Freeman and etc, he can be Bill Walsh or Mike McCarthy as the OC without having to take a promotion to HC. Its the connection an elite QB shares with an elite play caller that makes that once in a generation thing that just works. I really hope his success in what he does best right now is more important than being the top dog when he is only 35 years old. Enjoy the ride atleast through Ryans career and then cash in with a sterling resume'.

He needs more than one successful season. As much as I've loved him here, it's too soon for him. He's not ready.

I'm with you, hjerry. He'd obviously be an asset for many teams, but I just don't see him having the leadership and motivational qualities needed in a head coach yet.

He's young, and I think he will get there, but I think about watching team meetings on Hard Knocks, for example, and I just can't picture him leading a team in that capacity yet.

Give him credit. Our line is garbage on paper but sterling silver on the field, we are having success with second year and a rookie RBs, he thought to put Julio in multiple positions and thrown the defense off balance, and implemented a new scheme to relative success within one off-season. We haven't even seen the whole package yet. We wouldn't have this level of balance (or probably this level of success) with Mularkey or Koetter. I don't know if he's leaving soon it not, but I'm not going to say anybody else could look at our personnel and use it as well.

Action speaks louder than words.

DQ isn't a big talker but he sure walks the walk. He's a players coach and that's what Shanny can learn from him for the next couple years. I'm pretty sure he'd wait for the Indy job to open up.
