xFalconLord
Sometimes you look at a smaller back and think "change of pace" scat back.. However it seems like Freeman needs to be fed like a feature back. I seem to recall Warrick being the same way, shifty but needs to get the rock 20+ times per game. Also, they both seem to thrive in the zone blocking scheme. I will say that Freeman loves contact a lot more than Dunn did, which gives us more diminsions.Lastly they both catch it well and are great in space. 4-0, dirty birds.. Carry on ! ATLFalcons11
He reminds me of Thurman Thomas more than Dunn. I said this last year. Edited October 4, 2015 by ATLFalcons11
jaschart
I despised Dunn because of the lack of contact part, and that is exactly who Freeman reminded me of up until the Dallas game. Freeman has balled the **** out the last two weeks, but my preference still leans towards Coleman. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I think we've got a win/win/win at running back right now, thanks in part, perhaps in large part, to the ZBS.
dirtybird2k5
Not at all. Free makes contact, takes defenders head on, and has the ability to run them over. Free already has more touchdowns in 4 games than Dunn could muster in an entire season.
GATXBOI
Freeman plays like a physical Warrick Dunn
freefall
Nothing alike. Dunn was one of the best at avoiding contact. He had to in order to play at his size for as long as he did. For Freeman sake I hope he figures that out soon. Very few RB can play that physical and have a long career.
GATXBOI
He is also shifty were you watching his footwork today. He was playing a more elusive game than last week
GeorgiaBoyz
Freeman runs a lot like Frank Gore to me.. Small, light footed, physical and can catch.
FalconFan13
Freeman runs a lot like Frank Gore to me.. Small, light footed, physical and can catch. That is exactly who freeman plays like and imo should be compared to. They are both utility RB's that can play at every level of the offense be it Power Running, Zone/speed running, Catching in the flats, running an actual route, and pass blocking. They are built very similar in size, stature, and speed as well. Neither have that amazing home run threat long speed but they are both quick enough to hit one every now and then and they both finish with power. JayOzOne
I don't know if Freeman is similar to Dunn, but I saw Ward out of the corner of my eye and he sure made me think Michael Turner was back (not in how he played, but in body type). falconstwopercentsized
They're both below average height and both played for fsu.
MAD597
Freeman is more physical and way more of a complete back not to slight Dunn at all but Dunn was smaller and not nearly as forceful a runner
Shnikies
Free definitely has more power.

Draftnut57
The main two differences ,, Not only is Free built much stronger, Free has a Coach and a team that is at least two times better than the team than Dunn was in. That dose make all the difference in the World of Football.

I prefer a Gore type back to any comparison in this thread.

ki46dinah
More physical than Dunn....not as much long speed...not as good of a pass blocker....calls for first downs regardless of how close he actually is to the first down marker
GATXBOI
There is some LT resemblance
TheFatboi
He actually plays like TD to me. Terrell Davis. Good footwork and vision with great hands out the backfield.
bdog 29
Not at all. Free makes contact, takes defenders head on, and has the ability to run them over. Free already has more touchdowns in 4 games than Dunn could muster in an entire season. There's a disturbing trend on this board to completely discredit former players and coaches which really needs to stop. Warrick Dunn was a great RB for us, especially when we installed the ZBS with Alex Gibbs and you don't need to **** on him to make Freeman look better.Dunn didn't take tacklers head on and try to run over people because it was the smart thing to do in a lot of situations. If you gain 7 yards on 3rd and 5, there's no reason to lower your shoulder and take a tackler head on for one more yard. Dunn would fight for it if we need a TD or first down but he didn't threaten his longevity for a yard here or there. It's why he lasted so long with us and while I enjoy what Freeman does, I hope he learns to pick his battles in this sense too.
