Pass Rush Nonexistent

You just have no other rebuttal because you know I'm right. And you'll probably be one of the main ones crying when we get to the playoffs and Aaron Rodgers throws for 400 yards against us.

I for one could care less if Rogers throws for over a 1000 yards on us...as long as at the end of the game we have at least one more point than them. We got plenty of pressure on the QB and last I saw, didn't we get somewhere between 21-28 pts off of turnovers (directly and indirectly)? I'd be fine with NO sacks at all, as long as we keep winning. We're 4-0 and still improving each and every week....DESPITE only having 4 sacks...

Look at the drive chart, which might help people understand why.

1st drive - 20 yards in 4 plays, intercepted by Babs, 2 passes attempted

2nd drive - 15 yards on 5 plays, punt, 2 passes attempted

3rd drive - 0 yards on 3 plays, punt, 2 passes

4th drive - -4 yards on 2 plays, fumble recovered for TD, 1 pass play

5th drive - 20 yards on 6 plays, punt, 4 passes

6th drive - 19 yards on 1 play, forced fumble, 1 pass

At this point, we were up 28-0. They had 12 total pass attempts. They had 70 yards of total offense and only 3 first downs. We are not going to get cute with blitzing. The secondary gets out of man coverage to keep everything in front of them. And Houston starts completing (and missing some) some underneath routes.

12 pass attempts? We should have had 13 sacks on those 12 attempts. If we can't sack the QB on every pass attempt, and even on plays when he's not passing, this team is DOOMED. Might as well pack it up and start planning for the next draft.

He is pretty obviously trolling mainly exhibited by:

- Replying pretty quick and often to post that have nothing to do with the actually topic he post, but instead engages in beef. Pretty obvious hes looking for a reaction

- Steadily increases degree of personal insults to try to evoke anger out of another poster

- Plays innocent, and says to put on ignore if you dont like his post, when thats his whole premis.

OP what is your agenda with this thread did you really take into account the enitre game situation before posting.

Puzmmo's post pretty much says it all really.

So that taken into account why waste 7 pages of nothing when the defense had 4 takeaways today it's almost as though your saying because the sack total wasn't great the defense had a bad day when all in we had a great day defensively.

I'm uh..

I'm siding with Torris on this one, y'all.

We need some serious pass rush work/help. I think a playmaker on the other side of Beasley will help a lot.

You lost me Bro when's the last time you saw a Falcons front 4 get to the QB on a regular basis.I was thinking about 1998 maybe 2004-2005ish all I know its been a decade.

We need to upset what the QB is doing, sacks would be great but to come off with the pass rush needs help after watching the putrid we have had the last 2 years c'mon man please its blatantly obvious that we're getting more pressure than we ever have.

For a thread like this to come up when we're slapping the living shite out of the Texans makes me laugh.Who gives a flying F88k how we do it 4 takeaways today 2 defensive TDs please save this lack of pass rush nonsense.

i tend to agree, the other team is down 4 scores and you know they have to throw the ball....what better time to dial up some pressure....i see very little.. if there is ever a time for our DE's to get after the QB like their butt is on fire its now....i love the fact we're 4 and 0.... but we're gonna need to start getting to the QB....especially when the corners are playing man like they came out yesterday....

It hasn't been nonexistent. It's been better than at any point last year, and we only rush 4. That's good mate, sorry to break it to you. We've been hitting Mallett and getting in his face on most every pass attempt he makes that isn't three steps and fire.

Shhhhhh.....stop it with the "facts." Haha. The D was getting pressure.

This pass rush is as pathetic as last year. We should have got rid of Bryan Cox with the rest of the others. There was plenty of excuses about QBs throwing quick passes, but Mallet is living in the pocket.

The D had run a string of 5 shutout quarters in a row until the 2nd stringers were subbed in last game. That's all that matters to me...

You have a rep.

We're up 21-0, now 42-7, and you're making threads like this, finding things to complain about.

Where's your threads about how good we're doing?

No, every week you make a new thread about how much you dislike this team. If this had been made by someone else, it wouldn't have likely been met with such vitriol, but you? You've earned this kind of reaction, and you only have yourself to blame.

You seem to delight in trying to take the air out of everyone's balloons.

actually in his defense, there have been a few threads/posts where people are saying he might have to change his user name to positorris.....

but then we get the norm back with these, so the balance is there ph34r.pnglaugh.png

I'll take 4 turnovers and only 1 sack on defense every day of the week. If that's not good enough for people here than I feel sorry for you.

If you are worried about what may happen against the Packers in the playoffs 3 months from now with our pass rush and can't focus on the 4-0 start with this team kicking azz. I also feel sorry for you.

Sigh...When will people understand that sacks are only a part of how to judge a defense. We were up 42-0 at one point. We need a pash rush to pressure/sack/hit the better Quarterbacks we will be facing, however if we keep the opposing team scoreless, what does it matter? This just goes to show you that people will go to great lengths to try and be a pessimist, when good things are happening.

"Atlanta has sent five or more pass-rushers on 15 percent of opponent dropbacks through four games, the second-lowest rate in the NFL. No one has pressured opposing quarterbacks less frequently than the Falcons so far this season (13 percent of opponent dropbacks)."

Putting more people in coverage but still not pressuring quarterbacks at a decent rate. Hopefully the front four can pick things up.

This is the problem.

Great, drop as many as you want into coverage as you want, but what does it matter if the pressure is not there.

We have not been getting pressure.

I'm not saying this type of analysis is wrong, or useless, but it can also be misleading. If the QB is throwing quickly, then pressure can have an effect without it showing up on a stat sheet. There were lots and lots of short passes in the last three games (I didn't see any of the first one). The Falcons are rarely rushing more than 4, and yet it's not like you see the QB just standing back there all comfortable and waiting for the play to develop - which happened a lot in years past.
