MAD597
QB's don't even pass his way, he could end up with zero INT's and very few PPD's and tackles due to the fact no one ever bother to test him because he locks down one side of the field. He he is danger of being forgot about due to the fact he might have next to no stats? Revis was in the same boat however playing in NY he got alot of media attention. Here in the ATL Trufant will not get that type of media attention. The team and Trufant probably don;t care as long as he locks donw the field but it would be a disservice to Trufant if his lockdown prowess is never recognized. Lornoth
Probably not, but that's okay. He'll get plenty of recognition by the team and the fans.
Tribal Chief
That's how Nnamdi and Revis earned their credit. But really though, why does media attention really matter that bad to you people.
falcndave
The only way Trufant will get stats (and the respect that comes with it) is for Alford to improve. The good new is when imperfect QBs pick on Alford, he can bite back. He doesn't cover as well as Tru, but he has decent ball skills. He'll make someone pay at some point.
FentayeJones
I think opposing QB's already know he is legit. That's why hes not getting thrown at.

MAD597
I'm not horribly concerned about it I just think it would be a shame as Trufant seems to be developing into one of the best CBs in the NFL but may be ignored due to lack of stats and that he plays in an area that does not get the Media Attention like NY. I doubt Revis would have been as well known if he played here or the Jags or something.

They averaged 2.9 receptions and 26.4 yards against Revis. The rest of the season those nine receivers averaged 5.1 receptions and nearly three times as many yards."http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/9203/versus-revis-all-wrs-in-elimination-game
likeriver
That's how Nnamdi and Revis earned their credit. But really though, why does media attention really matter that bad to you people. Why to emotionally invest ourselves in game played by millionaires? It's all contrived. We want the team to win and the players to get respect because it's entertaining for us.Of course, I'm much happier to watch them win a Super Bowl than for Trufant, Julio, or even Ryan to get widespread recognition. Atlantafan21
That's how Nnamdi and Revis earned their credit. But really though, why does media attention really matter that bad to you people. Both had at least one great year of stats though. Believe Nnamdi had 7 INTs a year and Revis had somewhere around 5-6 one year. I think once we get a good FS Trufant will be baiting a lot more like Sherman does and will get his numbers up considering how fast he is compared to Sherman as well. likeriver
getting respect isn't entertaining. Winning is entertainingWanting to see players get respect is no different than wanting to see your team win (and, thus, get respect). Psychologically, what makes either entertaining is that we emotionally identify with them. OP emotionally identifies with Trufant, and of course you seem to more emotionally identify with the team rather than the players. The point is that it's all contrived, so it's not as if one form of entertainment is more legitimate or rational than another.I personally would like to see both come to fruition, Trufant getting respect and the team winning games. Heck may be the opinion of everyone who keeps bitching about respect. From where I'm looking, everyone keeps looking in the wrong spots for respect cause there are several other media outlets around the web that say positive things about the falcons and their players. Seems most of you who care about what others say are simple looking in the wrong places

alphaville
I'd like it if the broadcasters at least recognized when he makes a play. There was a play against the Cowboys where he clearly got a hand on the ball, popping it up in the air where Rico almost had a shot at it. Aikman just commented that the receiver missed it, saying Durant must have blocked his view. Sheesh.

pzummo
He will get recognition in the top 100 after the season if he keeps it up. The players know who is and who is not thrown at. If the Falcons have a great regular season record and/or make noise in the Playoffs on a national stage, he'll get media recognition. They love promoting the advanced stats, and they will talk about it if he still allows the lowest completions per passing down at season's end. No question.
