Guest FalconsAndrew
This week's chat with Kyle Shanahan is up on AF dot com. Lots of info on Julio's health, Hardy's development and more. LINK

JDaveG
Shanahan really understands the game and how to use weapons. And he believes in his system, mostly because the system covers so many different holes (provided you have other areas that aren't holes). The stuff about using DiMarco as a TE is a good example. If one part of the game is weak, we can improvise to improve it instead of just leaning on other areas. When is the last time we could truly say that? Da_Truth
Whatever the offensive plan is we have to make sure Ryan gets the ball out of his hands very quickly. So that's either the run, quick underneath passes, bootlegs or play action--anything that will protect Ryan from sacks or hits.
direwolf
I really can't wait for the running game to blossom so we can REALLY open up the playbook. Don't know if it'll be this year, though last week was a great sign, but eventually it will and we'll see all kinds of cool stuff.Love that Shanahan sets up plays both in game and with games to go. Lining up Julio in the backfield was pure window-dressing in the Cowboys game - but it got it on film. And now teams are going to wonder about it. And, sometime in the future, I bet we do something with it. Shoot, you could have some pretty simple misdirection plays out of that that would scare defenses to death. Fake a little flare to Julio coming out of the backfield and then hand off to Coleman/Freeman on a draw, for example. Teams will have to respect that Julio is a threat on every single play and that frees up other opportunities.

Guest FalconsAndrew
He's been literally around offensive scheming since birth. He's got the "lineage" that we always talk about with Jake Matthews. He understands offensive schemes like we understand the alphabet as it's been ingrained in us since we were toddlers. Big reason why he's a successful OC at 35. RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
Is there a video to accompany the article? I thought there was, but the video that shows with the text is the Falconscast.

blizzard_falcon
Awesome to hear that guys like DiMarco and Williams are ready to step up when thwir number is called. That's what you need, because injuries are inevitable. And on the other side of the ball, we had a guy like Stupar step up in a big way while Reed was injured. Here's hoping Therezie can continue that trend at FS this Sunday. We are pretty freaking unique on both sides of the ball and these two guys Quinn and Shanahan are so refreshing for lack of a better word. Caddieman
Did this strike any of you weird? "We haven't practiced 4 WR sets" With the WR we have I find that very strange......just sayen!
alphaville
Great read. Really enjoy these. Did notice that DiMarco is being used in different ways, but I didn't realize that he was filling in for Tamme on plays on Sunday.
Mr. Lubba Lubba©
Did this strike any of you weird? "We haven't practiced 4 WR sets" With the WR we have I find that very strange......just sayen!I could see how that would be weird, but we're not totally stacked at WR. Having two TE sets with heavy fullback usage is what makes the play action we depend on so powerful.
