Rave
Skip Bayless just rattled off your exact gameplan for the Cowboys on Sunday...I also love what Stephen A. Smith said, if Atlanta wants to be relevant, THEY HAVE TO WIN SUNDAY.
Rave
When Skip is relevant come back and talk to me...just sayin'Sorry, he's not a Falcons fan. Must not be relevant. If he were one of the guys that picked Atlanta to win then you would be singing a different tune.Guess I should have just PMed this to Danight. Rave
No, I believe Skip is one of the worst prognosticators/instigators out there. Stephen A. Smith knows more about sports in his pinky toe than Bayless could ever hope to know.I really do not care what Bayless said and I'll be sick when he jumps on our bandwagon!I think Skip is funny, watching him drive Stephen A. nuts is great. The fact that he is the only Cowboys fan in the media (who didnt play for them) is also a great thing. If you pay attention their is a media bias when it comes to Dallas. Dallas is usually only mentioned to get hits or ratings unless they are doing too well to ignore. Its nice to have someone in the media that is pro Dallas. Rave
I think most of it is a drummed up act. I really like Stephen A's take on things though both in sports and life.I like Stephen A., but he is a Giants fan.

Rave
Exactly, when your coach directly loses games because of poor clock management in his 7th year> C'mon man...Smith wasn't the ONLY problem. If Quinn is getting more out of the players than Smith did, then there was an obvious problem with the effort being given. Why is it that some of you take every negative thing said about the Falcons personally? There has been a problem with the Falcons the last 2 years. If you believe it was 100% the coach then you are kidding yourself.Ive been here for years, Ive seen the posts condemning one player or another. To now be claiming there was never a problem with the players and it was all on Smith is ridiculous. How can you just ignore or pretend that those posts never happened?Just stop with blaming Smith for everything that had gone wrong with the Falcons the last 2 years. Rave
It wasn't 100% the HC, but he had become a major problem. His vision for our defense and trying to fix it with the wrong personnel was on him. I've always maintained a HC can wear out his welcome and they become stale. Smitty and another HC in the NFCS has/does fit this mould. I dont disagree, however, I dont disagree with Stephen A's comment either.

Des-pool
Meltdowns from NFC championship games to top ten drafting happens for a myriad of reasons.1. Our offensive line lost some core pieces, and Ryan's quick release also masked Defeciencies. Todd "mud duck" McClure was a big loss, as his intelligence and line calls often put guys in the perfect position and also masked the lines issues. Let's face it, even when Turner was running for 1400 yards, the line still had issues and wasn't ever a "great" line.2. We never relplaced Patrick Kearney effectively as the opposite end to Abraham. He got old, became more of a rotational piece, free agents like Ray Edwards didn't work out and before you know it, we really don't have much of a pass rush anymore. In this league, if you can't rush the passer, you are dead in the water on defense.3. We had some bad drafts. We have drafts from the last five years where we don't have a single player on the roster anymore. Especially on the lines. Dimitroff is good at scouting and picking skill positions and does a real good job with the cap. He is horrible at drafting for offensive and defensive lines, which is why Pioli was brought in and does that now.4. Coaching...after Smith's heart attack, that fire that he had to infuse his players with was gone. That guy that was ready to go toe to toe with deangelo hall and even pushed him on the sidelines was gone. He got extremely cautious, and lost the edge that gave him the passion to win, instead of playing not to lose. His failures with his coordinators, especially Nolan are pretty evident in hindsight. 5. Development of players: we just didn't do a good job outside of this, outside of first and 2nd round picks really. We tried to make players do things they were not accustomed/comfortable doing, and I think ruined a few of them. Ricardo Allen is a prime example of a player that was pretty much discarded by the smith regime but value found in the Quinn regime.6. Making the game fun to play: player in the NFL are usually motivated by money. They want financial security and the good life and to take care of their families. All that being said, anyone does better at the job when they enjoy it vs when they don't. The culture of flowery branch was very blame oriented, and players were scared to mess up because their mistakes were magnified for all. Snotty created a culture of accountability, which is fine as long as it is not oppressive. As losses mounted, it became just that. A lot of what went wrong is coaching based, and a lot of it is not. There were organizational wide failures. One of the reasons we have been so optimistic this off season with Quinn and his staff because we knew we could still be competitive if the coaching and player development issues were addressed, which it seems they have been. In reality, we actually only turned over about 35% of the roster, which I am told is actually league average every year, believe it or not. Trouble
There is a way to get it done, like we talked about early in the week. It is dink and dunk "safe" pass with no turnovers. Cant take yourself out of drives with penalties either. The Cowboys need to survive the 1st half. If the Falcons can hurt you it will be in the first half. They can also stab a steak through your heart in the final 2 mins.So Dallas needs ball control and clock management. Keep the Falcons D on the field for 40 min or more. No mistakes. The Falcons will do what they have been doing. I don't think the Falcons will do much different this week. (i could be wrong) 2-0 is a nice start and i dont see the formula changing to much right now.Its still gonna be a close game. It always seems to.We dont go for the throat yet. We arent ready to yet. So i expect another close game.

Just to see where the rookie is at this point. Also, Claiborne is having a good season, quietly.
Trouble
When you got all those starters out. Player evaluation is the best thing you can do. Someone has to do it. Id probably double him though. Ryan tends to wait for Jones to get man to man then Jones strikes.

Trouble
ATL has more to prove because we have a lot of new pieces but mainly a new coach. We dumped the winning-est coach in falcons history. Thats a big statement.Smith took a team from the dump and made us relevant. We where the lions of the South in 08.Now we have to see if the coach change is gonna pay off.Cowboys fought back to being relevant. The .500 kool-aid cowboys finally made it. Now its do or die time for some players. Romo isnt getting younger and is getting hurt. They gotta prove themselves. But atleast they got off to a fast start and the falcons helped them by putting up 2 L`s in the East record books. But im still hoping for a good game and no more injuries. May the best team win and i hope both teams walk out as healthy as when they walked in (those who walked in).

If they can't it will be they that are judged, not Dallas.Keep making this about Dallas though, I guess it takes the focus off who this game means more to.Dallas will be first in the NFC East regardless if they win or lose today. Just keep making it sound like a huge game though.I guess, to you, it might be.The only reason I care about this game at all is because I hate the Falcons and their fans (for the most part, couple of decent posters here).
