Flyin' In DC
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I have heard a lot of commentators and ex-players saying that they think that Quinn has gotten the Falcons going in the right direction so far. They also say they dont know how far they will go.But Dan Quinn has a lot of respect and I hear it a lot WHEN the Falcons are talked about. So severe that it needs to be brought to the attention of others They should be picking us every single time
Run 'n' Shoot
Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of the team still feeling like they need to earn something. I think Quinn will do a good job of getting the team prepared and not having a let down this early in the season. I just can't imagine Carolina, Arizona or another comparable team barely being favored against a team hit as hard by injury as Dallas has been. Keep in mind that I live outside of Philly so the media here is different from down there and maybe the pundits they get to give their picks don't follow the team very closely. Most people in Philly still think the Eagles are better than the Falcons and are still hanging their hats on the week 1 second half for hope. I see that as a typical Falcons third quarter let down which actually is the only thing that makes me nervous about Dallas. Hopefully, we can build up a lead into the half and come out of the second half and squash any idea of a comeback early. I'd love to see us start putting away games instead of letting teams hang around.
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
We've one two close games against two teams that we don't know a ton about right now. We've looked very good on both sides of the ball but we've also had some weak stretches. I love the enthusiasm but I'm taking a very guarded approach with this team. I was hoping to compete for the division or a WC. We have the inside track for that right now. Things are on schedule. But we need to be better on both sides of the ball to be a serious contender. And I think its possible.
octoslash
Wow. A 'disrespect' thread. Haven't seen one of those in nearly half an hour.
anm263
I don't see it as disrespect. It's just people who are misinformed and who haven't watched a single game of the Falcons. There always will be people who find something negative to point out. First it's: "They beat to teams that are 0-2", if we beat the Cowboys it's: "The Cowboys are without Romo and Bryant". Before the 2012 season it was: "Matt Ryan has to win a playoff game first", then it was: "He only wins in regular season and his playoff record is 1-4". Even on this years Top 100 Player clip of Ryan, you could see Ike Taylor say: "Matty Ice? He needs to win a playoff game first".It's just people repeating the same stuff. I know the team that I support and I don´t care what the media says.
Ghosts of Glanville
So if all commentators unanimously picked us to win this weekend, wouldn't that be 'disrespecting' the Cowboys?
Bring It
Look, for over 45 years the Falcons have been disappointing every faction of the football world.........owners, players, fans, media, scarecrows in cornfields across America......you name it.For this to end the Falcons will have to win CONSISTENTLY in the reg. season, win CONSISTENTLY in post season, and win 2 or 3 Super Bowls. That's it.......like it or not. When you've Croaked on national TV for over FOUR DECADES.......people get tired of even hearing your name mentioned. Oldskooler
I know it's only two games into the season and we're on the road but hearing people picking the Cowboys to beat us in their current condition seems a little disrespectful. Nobody has stopped Julio, all the Matts are getting it done (as usual) and the defense has been playing better. Am I too much of a fan to miss how Dallas could possibly beat us? I know their D has looked good but that's not enough.I'm not saying we are world beaters and will go 16-0 but we have to be good enough to beat a bunch of backups for a team that should have lost to the Giants week 1.Does the lion pause to wonder if the zebra respects him?Respect, or the lack of it, are equally meaningless from sports writers. birdz4i
what is the fascination around here with some people and feeling the need for "respect" from the media?
Romfal
who cares, just go 3-
JayOzOne
Let's hope they keep disrespecting us. That means we're better than they give us credit for being. We had a lot of 'respect' going into 2013, but that didn't buy us much, did it?
Carl927
If you have to ask for respect, you don't deserve it.
southernscot
I personally don't understand why people get all worked up with the "nobody respects us" narrative. Whoever Keyshawn Johnson or Ray Lewis picks on NFL Countdown means "diddly poo" in the words of Jim Mora. And I actually think the perceived sign of "disrespect" fires teams up. Dan Quinn's defense had that attitude in Seattle with guys like Richard Sherman or Kam Chancellor who were late-round picks and turned into NFL superstars. Playing with a decent-sized chip on your shoulder isn't a bad way to play.Besides, when you go 10-22 in 2 previous seasons, you also haven't earned "diddly poo" either. Guest facelessman07
Now, if we want the respect that some of our posters can't seem to live without, then this team has to take itNothing is given, everything is earned
