Matt Ryan/kyle Shannahan, 300 Yd Passing Games?

Will we see 300 yds passing from Ryan anymore with balanced attack? Ryan had five 300 yd games last year and a 448 yd game.

Last year Hoyer had three 300 yd passing games but that is because he played the falcons in one of those games.

IMO yes we will see hopefully about the same or more 300 yd passing games as last year. He had 298 in game one so he is right there.

We had a -4 in yardage in game one as the defense allowed 4 yards more than the offense gained but we did win TOP at 35.27 min.

Of course. I'm not worried about Matt getting his yards in. I'm more concerned about his touchdowns and interceptions. We've made excuses for Matt the last couple years because of the atrocious defense, O-line, and run game. We'll see Matt throw for 300 yards more than several times this season and I fully expect one or two monster 400+ yard games. But I want those yards to be meaningful yards and we need to capitalize and score off them and convert those games into W's.

Our team as a whole has to gain that "put 'em away" mentality. If the Falcons had've came out, drove down the field and scored on their opening drive after halftime, I think Philly would've folded their tents. But getting a turnover like that gave the eagles new life. All good though.

Who the Falcons are today, was 3 years in the making. Bad habits take a lil time to get through the system. Quinn is turning these guys into winners and believing in themselves. Playing from the front vs. mounting comebacks. They're gonna learn.

Nah man, as the OL improves the run game becomes more of a threat, and Ryan is a surgeon on the play action. If this OL gels, I expect MR2 to hit 300 often, even in a balanced offense.

Yes, Ryan is capable of carving up defenses when he has the threat of a run game, but Quinn and Shanny will burn the clock, if the run game works for us.

In other words, the drop in passing yards will be a matter of choice, not ability.

I just see the return of the play action pass as a staple to also mean there will be in increase in intermediate and long passes. I think the YPA and YPC will rise, and the yardage totals will as well. I agree that the rushing yards totals typically decreased the percentage of the offense overall that the pass accounts for, I just think the offensive yards as a whole will increase with a better OL.

I don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but in terms of how our game went last Monday it felt a lot like a Smith-coached game. We open the game up firing on all cylinders, we just can't be stopped. The offense is scoring at will and the defense is bucking down on every snap. We have the superior game plan and the opponent doesn't know what hit them. Then the third quarter comes around, we lose the lead and -SNAP- back to reality. For all the first-half kickassery, we still fizzled out, lost the 3 score lead and barely held onto the dub.

That's how the Falcons have played games even when we had Smith at HC. It seems the only way Atlanta wins is if they build a sizeable lead in the first half and just coast off of that for the rest of the game. When we barely won, Smith praised the relilience of his players and a lot of bad habits and terrible patterns went unfixed because our players were resilient and made plays to win. That's what winning football is all about and most games are decided by one score anyway, but I really hope that Quinn can overcome the curse of the Falcons 3rd quarter. I understand half-time adjustments are gonna be made and our opponents aren't gonna stay shell-shocked the entire game, but what we've seen in the 3rd quarter from this team is nothing short of total collapse. The only thing that seems to hold up consistently is our special teams, and we're lucky to have a kicker that can score us points even when our offense only moves the ball a little ways down the field.

Philly is a good team. Their offense is high paced. Let's wait and see how the next few games to label them "same ole Falcons"

Matt had 298 yards in the game monday night, but I doubt he will EVER have a game under Kyle where he can just go ahead and get that other 2 yards....... 300 is likely a thing of the past

Exactly. TD brought Shanahan in to put a ceiling on Ryan's (and the team's) offensive productivity.
