Justin Hardy

Dan Quinn said today that he did not play due to coach's decision. I am wondering what is going on, but I think he needs to be out there. He can bring a spark into the WR slot position and provide an outlet for Matt Ryan.

I would not make too much of it. Hardy is a rook - Quinn knows he cannot put him on the practice squad - when we kept Nick Williams we knew this was a possibility.

Hardy will be just fine - he may be inactive for awhile but his time will come - and likely later this year as he gets used to being a pro.

I was surprised he was a DNP to be honest over Williams....which is kinda telling.

I think Weems is an awesome special teamer, and a great teammate and blocker to boot....but is it just me or did he look really bad at returns? I couldnt tell what was up, but he didnt look right.

I gotta say, if he is going to look that slow on returns, you might as well put Hardy or Williams back there until Hester is ready.

oh, and props to Williams getting a fair share of snaps

Many delusional fans thought Hardy would come in as a rookie and dominate. Many argued he would be a instant upgrade over Harry Douglas. He maybe in the future but not now, very few players come into the NFL and dominate.

He did not play in the SEC or a top school, he fought his way onto a college roster and he will have to fight his way to success in the NFL.

Philly has a good ST unit as well. Weems didn't have a lot of places to go.

what does playing in the SEC or a top school have to do with anything

It has to do with the level of competition your accustomed to playing against.

It takes time to adjust to NFL speed and NFL athletes my point was it's a little harder to do when you rarely have faced top level DB's who will be playing on Sunday too.

Outside of that fact, it doesn't matter where you go to school. I also commend him for walking on becoming a premier player and eventually working his way onto a NFL roster.

My favourite play of the night was when Weems was back to return, and he let the ball go over his head for a touchback but decided to lay out the gunner anyway. lol

In my opinion, and this is completely fabricated from my imagination, but the coaches probably had Hardy focusing more on his role in the slot than his role as a backup PR. That's not to say Hardy didn't get reps at PR, because he did and he looked good doing it in the Preseason. It is to say that Williams being so far down the depth chart, he probably got 3 times the reps at it than Hardy.

That's my long way of saying they are probably more comfortable with him as a backup PR and knowing all of the assignments. Whereas if Hester is playing, Weems is backup PR, and Hardy will be active. Nick did not seem to know the plays when he was out there, which tells me he wasn't practicing offense very much, which tells me he's probably been focused on ST's.

If you can play you can play. Doesn't matter. Speed of the NFL is much faster than any conference in college football. Dontari Poe is one that proves that

By the last Eagle punt Nick was in at PR. Sadly the remaining returns we all kickoffs, which Weems took.

must have missed that about Williams at PR

knocked that dude out of the game

You can always name an exception to the rule. There a few super athletes like Poe who you can tell will translate due to their size and speed. Not a very good example when you use a top 15 pick which is expected to start immediately.

The fact is most rookies are not prepared to start in the NFL and that especially holds true for players who have not played against the best players in the country.

All these players can play or they wouldn't have been drafted in the 1st place. Not all of them will be able to adjust to the NFL game as rookies or to the NFL period.

you have a lot of players that come from the SEC and major conferences that are busts. Fact. If you can play you can play. Fact. Doesn't matter what school you go to
