New Season, New Coaches, Same Results

Recommended Posts

Going to make this quick and simple.

1st Half - defence looked stellar, pass rush was on point, oline was holding up, offence moved the ball, scored enough points but also left a few points on the board by not converting on some critical downs

2nd Half - struggled to move the ball, offence couldn't score and couldn't covert on 3rd and short yardage when it mattered most, defence looked like it did in the previous few years (junk), pass rush slowed down and if it weren't for a lucky interception (yes, I said lucky because it went through the receivers hands which is a play he would make 9.999 times out of 10, we would have conceded a field goal to lose. Not to mention the missed Eagles field goal on the previous set. Their offence was moving the ball at will in the 2nd half just like we saw all too often with Mike Smith & co.

1st Half 20 points

2nd Half 6 points....

New season, new coaches, same results.

I'll take the win but am not happy about how we got it.

If, if's and buts were candy and nuts....

Anyone with two eyes can see this is not the same old same old. Do they have issues to clean up? Definitely. Do i want to see conservative and playing not to lose? No, but this team is nothing like last year. I'm saying that even if they lose the next 15. In the NFL, a win is not just a win.

Congratulations on watching your first NFL game ever. Those of us who have been watching for decades know that comebacks, lucky breaks, momentum swings, defensive break downs are common placed in NFL games especially against a team who most thought we wouldn't beat, won 10 games last year, and was widely considered a SB contender.

The tempo of the eagles games will tire any defense out. I dont mind the results of the defense that game at all. As for the O i think we used freeman too much and not enough coleman and julio was taken out a couple too many plays to keep him fresh. We will be fine the eagles are a good team and we won. Onto the Giants

Vegas had the Eagles as a 3 point favourite, everyone here is making it seem that we won as a 15 point dog. We didn't accomplish the impossible but we should have put the game away in the 2nd half but instead we let the Eagles back in it like we've done time and time again. If you can't see that then you are a delusional fan who probably thinks we were just "one win" away from a playoff spot last year.

Apparently the Eagles suck now, and we should've steamrolled them. rolleyes.gif

According to posters like the OP teams should just give up anytime the Falcons have the lead. Forget the millions of dollars their teams pay them to, you know win the game. If the Falcons have the lead just roll over and accept defeat. How dare they attempt to win the game it's not like they get paid to perform....oh wait

It annoys the crap outta me when people make excuses around the missed FG. First off, it was a 44 yarder, and their kicker was 4 of 6 last season from 40+ yards. Credit the defense for stepping up and leaving the guy in a range that he missed 2 out of his 6 tries last season. Secondly, we ran the ball 3 times to get them to use up their timeouts and run the clock before pinning them at their own 14 yard line with 1:49 left in the game. If they made that FG, we had the ball with 2:26 left on the clock, all 3 of our timeouts, and needing a FG to win. We wouldn't have run the ball 3 times in a row and I have no doubts in our ability to get in Bryant's FG range with 2:26 left and all timeouts, even if we started at our own 1 yard line.
