MAD597
So any actual update on Schofield and his injury? This thread turned nuts and isn't really talking about the topic anymore. Alot fo you guys have to many stupid agenda's to push instead of talk about the subject at hand.
Oldskooler
I get the point your making, but in the end if his assignment was to cover a guy and he failed multiple times, should he have the job?It is the coach's job to put players in a position to succeed, and to be cognizant of their limitations. Only an idiot would expect Kroy Biermann to cover Sproles. If the assignment is for Biermann to cover Sproles, the failure is not Biermann's for his inability to cover him; the failure is the coach's for assigning him to do it in the first place. Canadian Jangus
This jacked thread is evidence of how important it is that Schofield is healthy.
Guest Gritz
I just exchanged tweets with Falcons writer Andrew Hirsch. He said that he hasn't heard anything about Schofield being hurt.

If he is incapable of covering RBs in a pinch than maybe we should get rid of him and go get a more capable LB. He whiffed on Murray's receiving TD. What's the excuse there? Can't cover him either, even when he was in perfect position?Kroy is just not a starter. He's being asked to do more than he is capable of doing, that much I agree on. But some LBS are able to make that play and Connor Barwin played LB on a RB pass play far better than Kroy. He was at least in position. It's Kroy's job to discourage the pass by covering 0-10 yds in the first place. Not get burned from the snap. Sproles had a 5 yd cushion. By contrast Barwin was right on Freeman. A pinpoint pass would have gotten us 6, but him being in position caused the pass to bounce off his helmet. gazoo
I just exchanged tweets with Falcons writer Andrew Hirsch. He said that he hasn't heard anything about Schofield being hurt. Thanks for confirmation Gritz. I thought this was cleared up at beginning of thread where no one heard any confirmation there even was an injury. We also found out he was playing at end of game, which would be quite a magic trick if he were injured earlier and his future was in doubt. ATLFalcons11
Not defending Kroy but I want to clear up that what he did on the missed field goal was not a penalty. That's just the media who all thought the Eagles was a shoe in making an excuse and generally they would get some sort of referee "genius" to clear up issues like that they decided not to and just speak on it being a penalty.Meanwhile they (NFL Network) got a referee genius to discuss a play call where the defender touched the towel of a receiver and recognized he wasn't considered downed because it's not a part of his body as opposed to long dreads. Also meanwhile they are making justification for Kiko Alonso clearly holding Jacob Tamme on the strip sack. When the only reason it was a strip sack in the 1st place is because Matt Ryan had to pump fake to a would be wide open Jacob Tamme that was.....held.Sorry had to get that rant out. Not one to usually point out media bias but geez it was annoying watching that and "Are the Eagles as good as we thought?" instead of "Are the Falcons as bad as we thought?" Hooper72
I'm confused... so Biermann jumped the line, which may or may not be illegal, and may or may not have stomped on Scho's groin?
kiwifalcon
I get the point your making, but in the end if his assignment was to cover a guy and he failed multiple times, should he have the job? I think folks are reacting to him still being given the duty despite failing continuously. I for one never thought him to be very good in coverage. To me he's an over hyped STer and limited/emergency rotation guy. There's a play I remember against the Saints where he got a pass deflection on Jimmy Graham (Ala Connor Barwin) and was credited with making a good play. But I thought it to be a bad throw. He's mediocre. That missed tackle on the goal line was in excusable. He was lined up perfectly but Kroy took a horrible angle and a simple hesitation sent him flying. There is no excuse for that. And it seemed like he was being targeted. To be honest when Sproles made that break up the sideline I thought we were in zone but I could be wrong. The issue here is not so much Biermann its Kelly' offense found the weakness of the scheme and went to work on it.What really needed to happen is us getting in the right personel to defendit as it was clear once Biermann was asked to drop into coverage thats where the ball was going. RandomFan
Schofield, O'Brien OLB Hip DNP - - So Scho actually is on the injury report with "Hip." Looks like the sideline reporter wasn't just talking out the side of his neck after all. This sucks. I'm just hoping it's a minor tweak and not something that is going to cause him to miss any game time.
